I never understood the slipcover obsession with some collectors, but ive noticed its with the boutique collectors mainly. My broke ass hits up the thrift stores and flea markets for 70 percent of my collection. Now and then ill go to a used movie store and buy some boutiques for 8 and 12 bucks but mainly just buy the 3 and 5 dollar dvds and blu ray's. 😊 granted ive been "collecting" since the late 90s early 2000s so my collection is about 13,000 titles strong.

not sure how old you are but in the early 80s (before blockbuster) when you'd go through a mom'n'pop video rental store, there would be tons of titles that never went to the theater (and even some that did) and the only way to pick what you wanted was by the great cover art - that is what the slips are to me....but there is no right way to collect.... but I'd argue that most collectors that collect anything -cars, comics, signs, whatever -they want the best and most loaded version of whatever it is they collect

@@AVAPopCulture true, I can see that for a reason. I was born in 90 so video stores both mainstream and mom And pop were still around well into my teens. Actually still got VHS rentals I bought from my local blockbuster and Hollywood video when they closed in 2007 and 2009. My comment was by no means a jab at any collector just been noticing the motif in the community and had to know why.

I was waiting for this video, good info. With my modest monthly budget saved for this sale I'm buying the Hammer Horror related blurays for Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, and Werewolf stuff. They are still a little expensive for on sale blurays though. If they were all like $10 I'd buy every Hammer Horror I could.

I love all that Dracula, Mummy, Frankenstein, and Werewolf stuff too. I especially like Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde. There was a modern version of Jekyll and Hyde done recently, set in today's world, but I can't remember where I saw it. I loved it. I recently watched 1931 Dracula and the character actors are so good, I think they're British theatre actors. The spider crawling up the wall and the wolves howling outside, the light on Dracula's eyes, and the inside steps of his castle. So good. The crypt is awesome 👍.

I'd love to go after the hammer horror stuff but with the announcement that Scars of Dracula is getting a 4k from Kino Lorber, I feel like we will end getting 4ks of all these... I also want the slip covers if I am getting a bluray lol

I like getting the slipcovers, but they aren’t dealbreakers at these prices. Also, just because the 4ks don’t show SC’s doesn’t mean you won’t get one. I placed a pretty big order Friday at like 3:10 am and I already got it today. I got a SC for The Burning 4k and the sale listing doesn’t show them. PS. I watched Creature Feature late last night and I enjoyed it a lot.

The makeup in Creature Feature looked very good. The clown was especially creepy AF! It was definitely a great Halloween time movie.

I've been checking their site every day waiting for the sale. So, yesterday morning placed an order right away so they would get shipped quickly. Last year I waited and then took about 2 months to get my order. I got 6 4Ks and 3 blurays. I wanted others but had to pull back. LOL. My game plan for choosing titles was comparing prices with Amazon. The ones with the biggest difference are the ones I chose. I had to pass on the Chucky movies. The 4Ks I got were Dawn of the Dead, Lifeforce, Nightbreed, Pumpkinhead, The Sword and the Sorcerer and the Slumber Party Massacre set. Blurays I got were Return to Salem's Lot, The Town that Dreaded Sundown and Love at First Bite/Once Bitten combo.

there are some good prices for sure but all the blu-rays are naked lol....and there are some I would want but I am afraid a 4k will follow like: Misery, 13 Ghosts, John Carpenter's Vampires, In the mouth of Madness, Ghost Ship, Valentine, and some of the Hammer Horror films...I feel like those are on the 4k watch list lol

I haven't watched it yet but I have it. It was well regarded in the reviews I saw. Kino seems to do solid work. I don't know if things have changed but I know their Mad Max 4K was the go to version when it released and it looks and sounds great.

Hey Chase, looking at ordering the Friday The 13th set - hard to resist at that price. Right now I just have the original and the 2009 remake versions on 4k , and hearing they might start putting out more Friday the 13ths on 4k. I see from your videos that you have the blu-ray set, would you say the blu-rays are good enough, or would you start double dipping as more start to be released on 4k?

I am going to be honest, for me, I had to have the bluray set BUT I will also double dip for the 4ks....the blurays are great and you get a lot of extras but you will get better picture and different extras from the 4ks (and they will trickle out over time)....so it really depends on how big of a fan you are!

I picked up the Bubba Hotep with slip variant, The Blob & Night of the Demons (stand alone). Thought about that Halloween set but I still think $70 is too much for those 3 when the only one I liked from that bunch is H20. Several ago, I got together with college buddies for a weekend of partying and I brought along the bubba hotep dvd. When we all decided it was time to watch, I couldn’t find the damn thing. We pretty much ransacked my buddy’s house but no luck. On the last morning of the trip, my buddy’s wife walked out and it handed it to me.
