Any tips for reading note on the ledger line?
@PianoRoadmap Жыл бұрын
Use the high and low C as landmark notes. High C has 2 ledger lines above the treble staff and low C has 2 ledger lines under the bass staff. Read the other high and low notes in reference to the Cs. *Usually* anything with more than 4 ledger lines will be written with an 8va (thankfully!).

Hi. This may be weird question but what do you hear in your mind during your sight reading? Is it the same as reading a book (hearing a silent pronounced words)? Do your hear the sound of notes before pressing that notes or do you hear like c d e g a or do you hear do re mi?
@PianoRoadmap Жыл бұрын
Great question, not weird at all! I had to quick sight read something to know for sure what I hear in my mind . . . So, I am singing the tune (as best I can) in my head. This includes rhythm, articulation, and dynamics. I definitely DON'T think of note names or solfege, but I can see if one is still working on improving their note recognition, they might say the note names in their head if the music is simple enough.

@@PianoRoadmap when I close my eyes I mess up a bunch and can't seem to do the exercise

@@usernameatusernameperiodsh2168 Think more long-term baby steps. If you can't do the exercise with your eyes closed yet, give yourself more time to practice it with your eyes open. After progress is made that way, try just ONE interval leap with your eyes closed. Work on that until you make progress, then keep going. Also, just by practicing your regular piano music & keeping this leap idea in the back of your mind (knowing this is something that you're working on), you will naturally improve.
