Surely the best way for Americans to live resilient lives would be to act collectively to create an efficient, all-inclusive national health system, to ban military weapons being held by private individuals, and to restrict gun ownership generally. Every other civilized nation managed to do that long ago. If they did those things, a lot of resilience would immediately be built into their existence at very little cost and they could think about more creative and productive topics, as befits a rich, advanced nation.

Not convinced. I like Nassim Taleb a very smart Mathematician and very successful. Lots of respect. But, here is my list: Agree with: 1- Do not disappoint your 18 years old self 2- Start a business 3- Dont to to other what you dont want done to you 4- Be most respectful to Manual labor 5- Most Important ---- Self Respect. Self respect is the foundation stone on which we build ourselves and others around us, family, society, country and the World. Disagree with: 1- Tell people what you do Not what they should do. Sure, never tell anyone what they should do because you are not them. But, also never talk about yourself to others. 2- Avoid things that bore you. This is at best nebulous. My teenager finds most things from working to cleaning boring. 3- If something is nonsense say it. No, who and what gives you the right to determine what is nonsense. And if it is nonsense quietly avoid it
