I saw somewhere that whoever does the filming of these shows, if they don't actually see or film the crime, then they can get away with it, the criminals can argue it's just all talk, and the crims can even sue the company filming. But if they film and show the actual crime taking place, then they have to hand the footage over to police. Apparently they all have to sign papers and things saying all this.
