Pietro Mascagni-Cavalleria Rusticana(Intermezzo) ++

A tribute to the greatest movie ever made. The music is from a great Opera which is part of the third and final Godfather movie. The second part of the video is: Nino Rota-The Godfather (excerpts). This is my favorite movie and it is a classic. Enjoy.

I am very glad that Hollywood added this most beautiful piece of Pietro Mascagni music to one of the gratest movie series of all times. The life of a Sicilian imigrant family in the USA..., their life of hardship, glory, violence, tragedy and redemption. What a fabulous mix of beautiful music and scenary in a film with a complex ,violent yet romantic story. Had it been made in Italy it would not have been better. What great performances by Brando, Caan, Paccino and Duval.

today, 2nd August 2008, died for 63 years Pietro Mascagni - The Caveleria is one of the my favo operas. I heard it more than ones, saw it live in Arena di Verona. Mario Puzo's Godfather and this opera, it is almost unreal, how these stories are almost the same. this intermezzo tells the story of al whole life, which its ups and downs. Pietro I will always love your Caveleria!

I grew up very Italian. Momma had 7 children ,I didn't know my dad. Big brother was a tough guy and got murdered. Other sister and brother suicides. I grew up with wise guys and alot of stuff you see on tv. When someone in our family died there wasn't a big outpouring of emotion. Just sadness occasional tears. Life hardened me. Momma did her best to show me a beautiful world,but I saw differently. Sadness,tragedy,passion,and finally forgiveness. This piece tells my story w/o saying a word. Ciao

No doubt, Pietro Mascagni would have loved The Godfather III. His Intermezzo to Cavalleria Rusticana makes a powerful framework to the unfolding tragedy. It is hard to imagine experiencing the same intense emotions without this background. Ketty

Thanks! The Godfather is the best MOVIE ever made. If you look at the story line, acting, cinematogrophy and music it could never be surpassed. Especially part I and II, but III had some really good moments and THE MUSIC!

The first movie set a standard of excellence. The second was an excellent example of what a sequel should and ironically enough... the third was an example of everything a sequel shouldn't be. This is an awesome video by the way, love the music.

I saw it likely 100 times. Music, story, acting is the best. It changed our expectations of an excellent movie. The bar was much higher after this film.

"That is the price you pay - for the life you choose, Vincenzo..." But, the price was at least as much Michael Corleones own...... But, he recognized the fear - to late... Both in him self and the fear that surrounded him... "Why were you SO loved - and I SO feared..."???

Just discovered your Godfather tribute whilst researching Cavalleria Rusticana, I am very impressed with the whole thing. This film is very special to my wife and I as I took her on our first date to see it! (39 years ago) and we were both spellbound by it, especially the incredibly poignant love and lost time with Michael and Apollonia. Had the Love Theme rejected at our wedding as the vicar thought it an "inappropriate" film. I think this is brilliant, but may be biased. Thank you

I agree with almost everything you said. If part III was made as an independent movie without part I and II it would have been a big hit and a great movie. However in my opinion the acting and story line was better in I and II and as a result III lives in the shadow of those two movies.

The ending of Godfather 3 is one of the classic scenes in movie history (even though the rest of the movie wasnt up to par with the first two, and the Coppola girl killed it. )
