Hey Shrimp People!
I hope you enjoy this spotlight on a unique, rare moss called PILO MOSS. Its undemanding, beautiful and sure to become a stunning addition to your shrimp nature tank!
I have a large moss collection, and its ALL grown in low tech shrimp tanks. I do not dose fertilizer or use co2. Lighting is low-medium and tanks are room temp.
I grow PILO MOSS and sell it on my online shop-
www.shrimplife.net/moss
I also sell Teddy Bear Cholla and Regular Cholla like the ones used in this video-

Great video! Do you recommend pulling instead of trimming (cutting) with all moss types?
@ShrimpLife
@ShrimpLife 4 жыл бұрын
Thats a great question. I pull most of them. Trimming can sometimes send loose bits into the tank. The only ones I trim instead of pull are ones that grow up and get really tall, like flame. (I can't think of others at the moment)

@@ShrimpLife thanks! I'm growing outdoor moss because the new growth seems to be fine growing when immersed while the original plant won't. So far, the ones I have grow straight up, so good to know there's a difference! Does Pilo moss have specific needs? If that's a future video I will wait. Lol

@@ingeniouspixie I grow over 30 types of moss, none of them need anything special (NO dosing ferts, NO co2) Everything is low tech, low-medium light. Its very easy to grow. :)

Oh well. Then i guess this slow growing problem isn't due to my bad water parameter or any chemical in my tank. Thanks a lot!

Hey, are you playing with the moss color at the beginning and end of this vid? It's so green there, but not so green on the cholla samples in the middle of the vid.

different lighting, within the tank (under water)and tank lights and out of water + natural daylight. As you can see the snails are also much darker when out of water.

I'm so sorry-- I just attached this EXACT message on your most recent post for Wave Moss... but I'm desperate because I really love your videos and want to be able to grow my own Moss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. No one on the forum that knows has answered but there's been quite a few having the same issue. I posted this (linked) thread to FishLore-- any idea why all of my moss dies? I can't seem to get ANY moss to grow: @t My parameters are: (tap water based) Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 5 GH: 7gh in 5 gallon, 9gh in 30 gallon (will be using RO water eventually to match at 7gh) KH: 4 TDS: 320 in 5 gallon and 450 in 30 gallon (will be using RO water to drop both down to about 300 ppm-- consistency is key haha) PH: 7.5 Phosphates: 0-.25 Temp: 76 in 30 gallon and 78 in 5 gallon

Hi! I'd look at temps and light. They do best in cooler temps (around 65-72) and lower lighting (nothing too intense) Also depends where you buy it, sometimes people grow it in co2 and it doesn't do well in a new tank without co2. Or stores buy moss in bulk and resell it (growing conditions vary) Try buying from a fellow hobbyist who has grow in themselves and take the temp down and lights not too high
