In the Jeppesen Approach Procedure Chart, the IFR pilots read the standard routes to follow in order to get established on Final Approach and Land.
By the end of this video, you will be able to read a Jeppesen Approach chart like a Professional Pilot.
The Approach chart is divided into 5 sections:
* Communications,
* Approach Plan View,
* Approach Profile View,
* Conversion Table and Icons,
* Minimum.

In the Approach Chart discussed in the Video, there is a route that brings us from TFN VOR to the Airport Runway. The route is divided into 3 segments:
1: Outbound from TFN,
2: Base turn,
3: Final Approach to the Airport Runway.
In order to be clear of terrain, the Pilots need to strictly follow the above route and final approach.
It is important to understand the threats associated with each approach.
In the TFN Approach Chart, we can see, that the terrain and the possible weather are the biggest threats.
Inside an Approach Procedure chart, there is a lot of important information that the Pilot has to analyze before making the approach.
The IFR Approach Chart may seem complicated to read, however, the only things you need are structure and knowledge when analyzing it.
My advice is to read the chart from left to right, top to bottom.
In this way, you make sure you go through the whole Approach Chart.

Thank you for your detailed explanation. one question tho, on the communication section It says 73 hpa for Rwy Elev what does it indicate? and why is the elevation measured by hpa?

Hello Pilot Climb, Community, I have a question for you regarding one specific element shown in the approach chart of the video. In the minimum section, there is a box "STANDARD" (white font black background). What does it mean exactly? thx!!!

In approach plan chart at decision altitude why ground speed is mentioned instead of air speed?If GS is taken to consideration whether head wind/tailwind effect should be considered?

I have one question if you can me explain, how to find coordinates for example the highest elevation on the approach chart? Thank you

Excellent review. Thanks. I am a little suprised that the name of the VOR (TFN) is not named in the Missed Approach description. Is that not the normal practice?

Just crunched some numbers... if you multiply your GS x 5 you should roughly get the same value, which is what he does in the end, since 5 = 10/2 which means multiply by 10 (add one zero) and then divide by 2.... this all comes from obtaining the vertical component from your horizontal GS, which is sin (3 DEG) * GS and then convert that value (which is in KT/h to ft/min). SIN (3 DEG) = 0,05 = 5/100. Fortunately, that factor to convert KT/h to ft/min is roughly 100 (true value 101,3). This means that you d multiply 5/100 * ~100 ... literally having 5 as the factor ...

Hey, thanks for the comment!! Yes your methodology is great!! Normally we simply divided the GS by 2 and add a 0 because it is an easier calculation to do while flying the plane👍

Hello Captain, i hope you are doing well. Are you planning to make more videos about charts? I mean part 1, part 2 ect ? I have a question about a chart of Jeddah airport in Saudi Arabia. OEJN Chart 10-1P1 valid since 20th march 2020. Effective since 26th march 2020. Section 1.6. "MIGAT AL-IHRAM Instructions..." I never saw such instructions like these and would appriciate if you can explain the chart. It is totally ok if you can make many parts about the category airport charts. Thank you very much!

Hi Gabrielle. Another great video! 2 questions: (1)The MSA shows 6500 feet in the north/east sector, but the holding pattern at TFN specifies an altitude of 6000 feet. Doesn't this violate the MSA? (2) What is the diameter of the MSA? In other words, how far from TFN does the MSA apply? I am not a real pilot, just a simmer (X-plane) trying to learn as much as I can.

Captain I have a question. At the buttom it says Rwy Elev:73hPa and if we multiply it with 27 feet it should give us 2062ft(which is runway elevation). But when we calculate the answer is something else.

@@eyuphancelik2789 Eyüphan pilotaj öğrenci misin bilmiyorum değilsen biraz teknik olabilir oradaki 70 hpa değeri QNH ile QFE arasındaki farkı söylüyor. 70x30 yaparsan= 2100 (2060 ı yuvarlamış) feet sana verilen QNH değerini QFE ye çevirip inişte airport elevationı altimetrende görmen için.
