I continue to be amazed by how many old cars are on the road today. According to statistics the average car is 12.5 years old (an ever increasing record over the last 6 years; so much for new cars don't last as long as they used to); keep in mind this is after over 600,000 used cars were scrapped under cash for clunkers in 2009, which was the previous year record for old cars surpassed 6 years ago.

That's because older cars were built to last. Newer cars are built with a 10yr lifespan to be thrown away. . . Why do you think new cars are junked by insurance companies, too expensive to repair.

It is good to see that old Toyota is going to be on the road a while longer. While the evap system on that Toyota is complicated, it is no match for a Russian brain. Compare that to the new Toyota trucks and I think repairing this one is a "no brainer." I saw where 98,600 Tundras were recalled due to machining shavings in the engine. I understand Toyota is claiming that because if they say there are bearing issues they would need to recall EVERY STINKING ONE OF THOSE TURBOCHARGED ENGINES. Obviously, Toyota is racing Ford to the bottom and despite Ford's head-start, Toyota might win! All the more reason to keep these on the road. GREAT VIDEO!

Hi, can you tell me how to get a scope like yours and what brand is it? Because after a year and half, finally fixed my car fuel trim problem just by putting back the OEM MAP sensor that i replaced by mistake with Delphi OE one that cause my fuel trim to go up by 10 percent, after putting the OEM back, fuel trim went back to 5 percent (i got the idea from your advice to use only OEM electronic parts) if i have a scope, i could figured it out the problem from the waves form of the aftermarket MAP sensor. I couldnt believe it, 10 more percent of unnecessary fuel consumption, that a lot, and cause engine rough idle and bad performance, not that bad since no check engine light, but the rough idle is an annoying problem if you drive the car too long, you can feel it on the steering wheel and the seat, in addition to transmission poor shifting.
@Z-Ack7 ай бұрын
Same engine, same codes, same issue.. same bad valve. But…. My issue was there is a little anti syphon / roll over flap inside those gas tanks. They’re supposedly non replaceable as they are “built in the tanks”. But if you can squeeze your arm inside the tank than you can pop it off,, mine was rotted away just enough where it shoved itself up in the filler tube and sealed it up kinda.. i just ripped it out and fixed the issue.. had me going for a week.. checked all the tubes, canister literally everything and it still was not taking gas, would take 30 mins to fill the tank.. had to drop the tank and remove that flap.. and they dont sell those flappers so either do without and remember if you roll over to gtfo.. or go to junkyard and hope to find a tank and remove the flap without breaking it…. Headache..,
@robertsmith29567 ай бұрын
Since you have to pull the tank, why not just swap it? I was trying to figure out the problem. Is he using those stupid gas pumps that seal to the neck? Should have plenty of room for air to get out around the filler nozzle.

If the Vent Valve on the Evap system is stuck closed, back pressure causes the Gasoline Pump to shut off for safety reasons. The Vent Valve on the Charcoal Canister is normally open when the Engine is off. This prevents pressure from building up in the Evap system.
@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics7 ай бұрын
There is no active vent valve on this system 😄
@davidhall37477 ай бұрын
If there is no vent valve on the respective system, then where does the Back Pressure go when the vehicle is being filled with fuel?
@jeffcompton69377 ай бұрын
It can still have a working vent valve but if the charcoal cannister is saturated it still will cause the gas pump to click off repeatedly when filling. People that keep overfilling the fuel tank cause the cannister to break apart and the charcoal inside it then starts causing repeat evap valve failures.
@Z-Ack7 ай бұрын
There’s a vent tube on the filler neck, a vent on the canister and a purge vent more or less that runs up to the filler neck also.. and when people with these motors fill the tank and over fill it pumping gas past the first click than the gas while driving will slosh up the filler and down the purge vents filling the charcoal canister.. this clogs the valves on it as there are 2 mechanical valves that work with back pressures from the evap lines from under the hood.. this causes the dreaded non fillable tank but wont bust the canister. Will just turn the guts into sludge..
