I loved the video. So clear and precise!! You are a very good teacher. I am self taught and I remember getting frustrated with it and would throw it across the room...then go pick it up and start over again! It takes practice. I am not the best knitter just try and try over and over and over until I get it.

Thank you so so much for this! 💞 This cast on is a real doozy, that's for sure. I love it and hate it at the same time. 😆 I can't even tell you how many times I've just about thrown it across the room too. 😂

I can sure relate to that feeling, because I felt like that when trying to learn how to knit socks with dpns as a new knitter many years ago. I actually screamed into a pillow a few times, lol! I had no knowledge of either of the magic loop methods at the time, and I am glad that I didn't, because I would have relied too much on magic loop without having the option to freely choose, had I never learned to be comfortable with dpns. We just need to allow ourselves more grace when we are challenged. 🤗

Holly, thanks for making this video! The initial stitches would be very fiddle, and your tutorial will go a long way towards making sure all knitters are aware of how to cast on for the musselburgh hat!

Thank you so much for this. This is by and far the best cast on tutorial I have seen for this hat. 🎉

I think I might be able to do the pinhole cast on now. Lol, it certainly is a struggle! 😅

Hi, thanks for this. I am a visual learner, and it was great . I did start over 6 times but got there in the end and am now in the round . Easy to follow, and we'll explain.❤

Thank you so much! I’m so glad the video was helpful. I struggle with this cast on all the time. It’s a real doozy! 😜 It gets easier after doing it a bunch of times, but it’s still difficult for sure. 😝 I love how tight it gets the hole in the center, though!

Can’t wait to get out my needles! I love the fact that you aren’t using the M1L and M1R.

It feels easier to keep it super simple to get the gist of this thing, doesn’t it?! Especially before starting the Musselburgh hat pattern. Going through the steps and solidifying the idea in my brain before beginning the pattern made a big difference for me to understand what in the world was going on with this cast on. 🤣

What is the technique to use Kfb instead of k1L or R? Do kfb every 2nd and 3rd stitch of each group of 4 stitches?
@PrayedKnots2 ай бұрын
@@knottedrealmdo you continue with the kfb throughout the increase rounds instead of the other increase ps the pattern calls for? Kfb is so much easier. Does it give the same look? Does it matter? LOL thanks for the video

This was so helpful. Thank you for demonstrating this technique. I basically cast on my stitches at the same time you did.

My directions for rnd 3 are different. It is " (k1, m1L, k2, m1R, k1) 4 times". Have you substituted the kfb for those? I am using the musselburgh pattern from Ysolda and now don't know how to proceed after rnd 4. Should I restart and do what the pattern says for rnd 3 or somehow adapt the pattern using kfb instead?

I too noticed that round 3 is different from the pattern

Hi Holly, thank you for your video. I have a question I have the pattern in front of me and on round 3 you do it differently as regards the increases. You do kfb instead of m1L and m1R. Please note that I am a complete beginner. Why do this? 😊
@elisekt18605 ай бұрын
Very good tutorial. I didn’t like the mus. hat because of the cast on. Thank you.
@deniselouvet34993 ай бұрын
Sorry Holly it’s me again, after my last comment moving forward to round 5 are you basically just replacing m1L and m1R with kfb’s? Which I believe will make it easier 😊

I loved the video, I have tried many times to do the Musselburgh hat and not yet succeeded. I would love to see you transfer them to the circular needles is there any special techniques? I’m a beginner to knitting 🧶 😊Thank you 😊

I like the container you put your needles in. Where can I get a pattern for it? Thank you
