My all-time favourite Pink Floyd song. That long, spacey keyboard intro that is elevated into the stratosphere when the lead guitar comes in is simply astounding! And then there's every other part of the song that just destroys! Every time I hear the song it brings me back to my high school cafeteria in 1976 where I first heard it being played by the school radio station. Though I had never heard the song before, I knew immediately that it was Pink Floyd. I just found it so beautiful, I was shaken to the core. The following summer I saw Floyd perform it live at Olympic Stadium in Montreal as part of their Animals tour. I nearly left my body! Of course being really high didn't hinder the experience either, but hearing that song followed by Welcome to the Machine was one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. Absolute beauty!!!

The 3 hour DVD of the 1994 Pulse Concert Live at Earl's Court London may be the best concert in history. Pink Floyd is incomparable as a band, and in this concert series they were at their peak, not only musically, but the band was one of the most innovative in stage performances. Just the lasers alone in the show were gold plated copper vapor lasers that cost $120K each that had never been seen outside of a physics lab before.

I saw Pink Floyd live in 1987/88 on their Momentary Lapae of Reason tour. It was at the Providence (Rhode Rhode Island) Civic Cemter. I was with my ex wife, her brother, and a friend. We drove the hour from Boston to Providence and, while finding the place and appropriate parking, we were a little late. We entered the Center and started making the circle in the outer lobby, looking for a sign that indicated the appropriate entrance for our seats. This song was playing while we were circling the outer lobby. I can remember the iconic guitar Riff at the beginning. We made it to our seats before the song finished, but I remember being excited to hear this song, but impatient and frustrated that we were late and that it was taking so long to find our way into our seating area. It ended up being a phenomenal show. Loved your reaction (and most of your reactions Rebeka)!

Rebeka - your enthusiasm for the saxophone playing made me do a bit of searching. The sax player was Candy Dulfer who was just aged 21 when she appeared at this gig. How can anyone get to be so good that they get asked to play for rock legends at a high profile gig like this? I guess that's what happens when your father is a celebrated saxophonist and you start playing at age 6. Amazing! Worth watching here kzbin.info/www/bejne/hneWeZ5seLdjqLc This goes straight on to my playlist. Thanks for being responsible for introducing me to a new artist!

I love Floyd '67-~'76. Once Waters became a complete control freak and no Gilmour songs (w/ his lyrics) could get on their albums, things changed, and not for the best, imo. Waters got too damned downbeat, almost pedaling misery. Gone were the experimental works, the early whimsical songs; the lovely, lilting songs on "Meddle", "Obscured...", the "More" sdtrk. It started to sound like what became generic 'classic rock'.
