Thanks for the frank description of the mechanics. 99% of the videos out there are "X for beginners" and spend the entirety just explaining how the buttons work.

Hi, Pinstar, I watch your medium 1850 game and wait to hard. One note, You don't need remove Bus station before street modification road with tram track. Station will "upgrade" automatically. I first set station, then set Line, buy Tram and then upgrade road with tram track and everything working as designed :)

Very helpful tips, thx! Liked & subscribed immediately after the shift key tip for placing, my OCD was killing me with those :)

You should try experimenting with mixed passenger freight train lines. You can have them come from the same stations but I cant seem to make a good profit with them.

You could possibly make that work if you had a station track flanked by a passenger platform on one side and cargo on the other. However, this might be case of "Can? Yes. Should? No" given how messy the logistics are and what kind of volume you need in each direction for both cargo and passengers. Might be worth it though. More testing is needed.

@@Pinstar I have gotten it to work only if you put the platforms on the same side of the track, otherwise the train will get "lost". This does however severely lessen the amount of cargo or passengers that can wait at the stations. I think if anything it would be more just for the looks then actual profitability.

True. Since each stop needs to have a single platform number you can't have it grab from two at once. I tried in an earlier series to have an 'any cargo' boat be partially filled with passengers but no dice. I'd say 2 trains, 2 different lines but the same physical stop is ideal as that would let you use both platforms on either side fully.

It's a shame the game finds it difficult, because, for many early rural railways, a train with mixed stock was fairly common. I live on an rural island which once had a complex network of local trains that did similarly. To be fair, there were no industry specific trains, such as coal or lumber, but carrying general goods like food, packages or machinery (more 'civilian' goods).

Eventually the passenger amount will out weight the consistent cargo amount.

I don’t see the point in using the larger stations for intercity transport, I have been setting a small one outside my passenger railway stations and it has bee working fine. Can you explain if there is a considerable benefit in using one over the other?
@Pinstar4 жыл бұрын
If you have more than one intra-city line that feeds into the same point-of-contact passenger station, you will want the higher capacity and multiple platforms of a proper bus terminal, otherwise busses arriving at the same time will get in each other's way since only one can drop off/pick up if it were just a simple side street stop. Not to mention, the various platforms each can have their own line to them so you can effectively have more passengers waiting total without bleeding them off due to crowding.
