Okay Bill, I've ordered a pair of Aeon 80's...because of your high recommendation. Don't anyone tell my wife. She'll flip. Just because I have like 6 pairs of skates since I got back into skating since the 90's in Toronto. Back when they had skating on the concession level of the Sky dome in the winter. That was fun and a great way to meet people. A skate shop on north yonge st called Ready to Roll was putting it on. Lots of great downtown city skating at night at the time. Glad to see you've continued to carry the torch Bill. Let's see if we can get this alive again. Not really sure what happened near the end of the 90's but no one was skating anymore. I'm in Taiwan now and will be turning 61 this April and these Aeon 80's will be a birthday present to me. I have a skate park near me and have been itching to check it out. Now I have no reason no too now with these new skates coming soon...I hope. I ordered them from Pro Skaters Place be cause they were the only ones that offered international shipping. No tax which was nice and that payed for half my shipping. The skates were on sale so i got a great price and only 2 pairs left in my size. looking forward to see how they compare to my fast PowerSlide HC evo pro skates. I've been skating rockered for the last little while and really liked it...but I don't think it's really necessary for urban skating. Can be a bit wobbly at speed...so I've gone back to a flat set-up. Take care Bill, and yes I will know what it's like to skate the mighty Aeon 80's. :)

Most street spots need to be prepared i.e. Rub Brick on concrete ledges followed by silicone spray and wax. metal rails normally at least need a little coat of wax. Its hard to find perfect little spots that you can just jump on and grind without any prep work while your skating through the city. Good luck on your Aggressive journey!

Yep. Hitting ledges previously used by skateboarders/bladers is always a safe bet. Stuff like marble and granite can slide amazing with no wax at all. 😘 I still use all the wax always tho. 😁

Hey Bill, I love your video's.. I have one question though which i really hope you will take the time for answering. I'm on the fence of buying FR1, because I love skating fast without much effort with great comfort as well. However recently a skatepark opened up in my town and it certainly would be awesome to learn grinding a bit too. Which the aeons would probably be perfect for. That said effortless high speeds is what i value most. Would the Aeon's be as good as the FR-1's in terms of speed? What would you recommend if you had to choose? Kind regards
@udihu4 жыл бұрын
No surprise there really. The Aeons have a quite long frame, with a ride hight of having 72mm wheels. This makes it super stable. Suprisingly, at leas for me, turning is really easy regardless the long frames, but I think that is because of the low ride height, which makes me fel more stable on them. You mention that the power transfer is great. Yes. Even though it's plastic, it is still an aggressive frame, which is quite thick and that also adds to the rigidity. On the plus side it absorbs better. I just love my Aeons, altough I'm riding 72s, but always had my eye on the 80. Keep the reviews comming, but please do compare against your freeride skates. Looking forward for those.

Hey Bill, I noticed you've been pretty faithful to your GTO's recently, and I wondered if you could say something about what they do better on an 80 mm setup than the Aeon 80? I've been trying to figure out if the Aeons would be a perfect skate for someone like me who would love to do jumpy urban skating and go fast, even if the grinds are really no priority for me - or should I just go for a purely non-aggressive 4x80 like the Powerslide Next. As a newcomer to the sport, it's hard to figure out what's optimal when you really want to go for control, balance and solid jumps and landings, but still be able to achieve and maintain speed.

Nice video, Bill. These look so sweet! Very stable; they look how I imagine my ideal skate. Ok, a few Q's if you wouldn't mind? How's the weight (of the skate, not you!) and how did you find it, and the slightly longer frame, when on the longer flow?
@wolfiezsnb88244 жыл бұрын
sry i'm not Bill but i am a sk8 guru lol. The weight is not posted anywhere but they have the one piece frame & boot so no steel bolts have to hold the frame so that takes off a lot of weight, they are very light for a urban hardboot skate, you can find them here:www.inlinewarehouse.com/USD_Aeon_80/descpage-710136.html . the frame is not much longer just about 5-10mm longer then the normal 80mm frames. Hey Bill... or anyone else on the channel with experience of the Aeon 80s...? I just got a pair specifically to use for urban skating after riding Rollerblade Twister X's for ages and the one thing I noticed straight away is that the liner (MyFit SkinnyBoy) really slips a lot inside the boot so there's a ridiculous amount of heel lift going on - something I had none of with my Twisters so it just feels like I'm going to lose a whole lot of responsiveness with these skates! Also even when tightened up it feels like the liners have a lot of movement in them with the forward lean. Have you experienced this as well? Is there a fix for this by using a different liner or am I just feeling the effects of using an Aggressive skate as opposed to an Urban skate? 🤔 Worth nothing also that it's not a sizing issue as I tried 2 different sizes of the Aeon 80 (41-42 and 43-44) and opted for the smaller size. I did notice that in each boot size the liner was slipping...

I rode on my outback 150s today and my 110s yesterday but I still get great speed on these 80s. I'm like you and just haven't gotten the skill level to grind on the fly. Just now working on the movements. Still working on those powerstops. I'm glad to see you skating these. :)

@@BillStoppard lol. These roll well. I don't think the smaller wheels roll as fast and even though the 72s and the 60s have a bigger grind center, I'm just not using that yet. Maybe when I nail grinding I'll try something better but for now, these are a perfect hybrid skate for me. I'm gonna try a few different footbeds besides the blues and see if they feel any better.
