@deckerdotto60355 жыл бұрын
Not just a KE but a KE and QR. That is old school. I'll guess it's from about 1990 or so. The video above will not help at all. You're going back about 30 years or so, but this is what I remember. The Red had a fuse holder. This was the ignition wire. There was no constant power wire to hold the clock and radio stations settings because KE-2303QR was a pull out type of radio. Press the button on the front edge and the handle will pop up. Pull the handle to remove the radio chassis from the mounting cage. All memory was held with a battery inside the removable chassis. I'm sure the battery needs to be replaced 30 years later. One ground wire needs to be connected to the back of the mounting cage and the other was the system ground as well as the speaker ground. KE means this was a low powered radio and all 4 speakers shared one common ground. Taken out of the box, the Black ground had a spade connection. The single Speaker ground had 4 separate bullet connectors. Green Left Front Positive. Gray Right Front Positive. Green Red Left Rear Positive. Gray Red Right Rear Positive. @pioneerelectronics3 жыл бұрын
What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? Please be more specific with your question. What is your setup? If your clock and radio stations reset each time you start your vehicle, the in-dash receiver may have an improper connection for the Yellow Wire. The Yellow Wire must have constant power from the vehicle. This means if the vehicle is switched on or switched off, the yellow wire should measure at ~12 volts. The Red Wire is for accessory. You can view the red wire as the receiver’s on/off switch. The red wire should measure ~ 12 volts only when the vehicle is switched on. ---Do not connect the Red Wire and Yellow Wire together. --- Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera. I don’t know about the operation of other cameras. Be sure to plug the Brown camera output RCA into the Brown RCA Input on the back of the Pioneer in dash receiver. The Pioneer ND-BC8 camera needs power and ground to operate. The camera should always have power when the vehicle is switched on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle is switched off. This is very similar to the way the Red Accessory wire works on a Pioneer in-dash receiver. Just because the camera has power does not mean you are viewing the camera window on the in-dash receiver. The receiver’s violet/white wire is used to let the in-dash receiver know that the vehicle is in it’s reverse gear and, to automatically open the backup camera window on the receiver screen. Do not connect the violet/White wire to the camera. When you put the vehicle in it’s reverse gear, the violet/White wire should sense a change in voltage. This automatically opens the camera window on the in-dash receiver. And closes the camera window, when the vehicle is taken out of it’s reverse gear. One possibly connection for the violet/White Reverse Gear wire is the vehicle’s backup lamp terminal. You can find more videos on Pioneer's KZbin Channel here: kzbin.info

My harness has two yellow wires, I tied them together but I’m not getting power. Should I only use one yellow? Help!
@pioneerelectronics2 жыл бұрын
This video describes the function of each colored wire in the Pioneer wire harness system. The Pioneer wire harness included in the box with the in-dash receiver is not designed to match the wire colors of any OEM factory Make, Model, or Year vehicle wire harness. Different vehicle wire harnesses may use any combination of colors. Any color match with the Pioneer wire harness is purely coincidental. I recommend the use of a wire harness adapter designed to fit your particular vehicle. The wire harness adapter will then color match to the included Pioneer wire harness. This isn't absolutely necessary, but it makes installation easier and faster. If you choose to get a wire harness adapter, be sure to get one the is designed for your particular vehicle make, model, and year. Here is one example: www.crutchfield.com/S-rYLQbV2XD7r/p_120701770/Metra-70-1770-Receiver-Wire-Harness.html?awcr=12166312015&awdv=c&awkw=car%20radio%20wire%20harness%20adapter&awmt=e&awnw=o&awat=&awug=&msclkid=7b2c1836d2d41b63c9317b2e498cff59 You can find more videos on Pioneer's KZbin Channel here: kzbin.info

@deckerdotto60355 жыл бұрын
The Pioneer wire harness system is not designed to match the colors of any wires in any given vehicle. This video describes the function of Any Given Wire by its color code in the Pioneer wire harness. You must connect the wire harness to the proper wires in the vehicle. This is not based on the color of the vehicle wires.

The speaker outputs should be read in AC. When the in-dash receiver is switched on and playing music, the speaker wire outputs (Gray and Gray/Black, White and White/Black, Purple and Purple/Black, Green and Green/Black) should read AC output. The designation of positive and negative on the speaker output wire is only to ensure correct phase polarity for the speaker.

@pioneerelectronics3 жыл бұрын
The Blue wire with White stripe is used as an on/off switch for external devices connected to the in-dash receiver, such as external amplifiers or a power antenna. If you don't have any external devices that need to be switched on and off with the in-dash receiver, then you don't need to connect the Blue/White wire to anything. Pioneer in-dash receives must be connected to the vehicle to operate. This is done through the wire harness as explained in the video above. The wire colors on the Pioneer wire harness are not designed to match any particular make, model, or year of vehicle's dash wiring. In many cases you can buy a wire harness that is specific to your vehicle. The wire harness that fits your vehicle will have the same wire colors as the Pioneer wire harness. You just need to match up the wire colors. You can see one example here: metraonline.com/part/71-2106 You can find more videos on Pioneer's KZbin Channel here: kzbin.info

It would be great if your car had the same plug as the one on the back of the Pioneer receiver. Best of luck with that. I strongly recommend that you take the existing radio out of the vehicle, and compare the connectors in the vehicle to the plug on the back of the Pioneer receiver. In nearly every vehicle ever made, these plugs will not match up. That's where a part like this is used: metraonline.com/part/71-2106 In nearly every Pioneer car stereo installation, you'll need to join the wires from the in-dash receiver to the vehicle in one way or another. There are many ways to join wires. Soldering, or crimp connectors are commonly used. You can find many videos on KZbin explaining the process of wire joining. I have a deh s31bt, with AMP ERROR, if I add the external amplifier it’ll fix it? My battery voltage is up near 14
@deckerdotto60355 жыл бұрын
Amp Error means the receiver is in protection mode. If you are seeing AMP ERROR on the in-dash receiver screen this almost always means exposed speaker wires are touching each other or touching metal in the vehicle. Check the White and White/Black, the Gray and Gray/Black, the Green and Green/Black and the Purple and Purple/Black wires at the back of the in-dash receiver. You can see them here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYOVfoJooNx5q8k If the speaker leads have exposed wire, properly terminate the wire so there is no exposed wire. If the speaker wires are not touching each other or metal behind the dash, check the speaker locations in your vehicle. If a speaker terminal is touching metal in a door, or some other area you may see AMP ERROR on the in-dash receiver. Adding an amplifier is a great idea, however, please note: Until you figure out what is causing the amp error, it will continue to display. I am having a trouble.. my head unit is pioneer DEH-80PRS, Currently going on network mode. I am using 4 channel external amps. Front mid bass were connected to using external amps (channel B). Subwoofer was connected using bridged external amps (Channel A - Bridged). My tweeter was connected to grey and white black wire from the unit. The problem is : The mid high pass filter was filtering the mid bass (which is correct), but the mid low pass filter was filtering the tweeter instead of the mid bass. And therefore, the high low pass filter is filtering the mid bass. What is wrong here? I am confused.
@deckerdotto60355 жыл бұрын
The Pioneer DEH-80PRS was first manufactured back in 2010 and it works a little differently than any of the more modern Pioneer receivers in network mode. The Pioneer DEH-80PRS uses the Rear Output RCA and Rear Output Speaker Level as the High Range output in Network Mode. And the Front Output RCA and Front Output Speaker Level as the Mid-Range output in Network Mode. This means Green and Purple speaker wires are the Rear or High output. And the White and Gray speaker wires are the Front or midrange output. This is different than other modern Pioneer in-dash receivers. This is clearly noted in the DEH-80PRS installation manual. You can find it here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/DEH-80PRS_InstallationManual072616.pdf The RCA outputs are from the top of the unit to the bottom, Rear/High, Front/Mid, and Sub/Low. Also, please be sure to choose a Crossover Point and Slope for the midrange outputs both HPF and LPF. No matter what crossover point you set, if you choose a slope of Zero, you have effectively made this output a pass through with no crossover at all. @@deckerdotto6035 Hmmmmm... I see, that's why.. my next question, what does the rca input high and low means on the back of the unit? I searched for some resources but still, I don't understand what it used for and what do they differ.. and thanks a lot for your reply, it just solved my problem!
@deckerdotto60355 жыл бұрын
You can find the installation manual for the Pioneer DEH-80PRS here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/DEH-80PRS_InstallationManual072616.pdf This topic is covered in some detail. Please read it. The RCA input on the back of the Pioneer DEH-80PRS is simply a 2nd AUX input. It can use low level RCA input from an external device. Or it can use High Level speaker input from an external device. Depending upon what type of input you are going to use, set the switch accordingly. If you are not going to use the 2nd AUX input, it does not matter where you set the switch. The DEH-80PRS will not automatically adjust to the type of signal and may be overloaded with a high level input if you set the switch to low level input. If you are planning to play music from an external device through the 2nd AUX input, be sure to balance the volume output from the music player with the input on the DEH-80PRS to avoid a distorted input signal. The red wire and the yellow wire are the keys to your question. The red wire should be hooked up to ignition. The yellow wire should be hooked up to constant power. This keeps the radios clock and radio station presets when the system is not switched on. If you put the yellow wire and the red wire to ignition it will power on with the ignition but will not save the clock or the radio stations. It will not use any power when it's off.

If you are using an aftermarket wire harness adapter designed for your particular vehicle that offers matching wire colors to the Pioneer wire harness, you should be able to join the two black wires together. One black wire from the Pioneer harness and, one black wire from the aftermarket wire harness adapter joined together. That should be all you need to do. Another option would be to connect the Pioneer wire harness black wire to metal in the body or fame of the vehicle. If that case you should safely terminate the black wire from the aftermarket wire harness adapter. It's not a good idea to leave bare wires in the dash. @pioneerelectronics2 жыл бұрын
When you see the amp error message, the first thing to look at is the speaker wire connections. I recommend to carefully check all 8 of the speaker output wires at the back of the receiver. White, Gray, Green, Purple and the black stripe matching colors. If any of them are touching one another or metal in the vehicle, you may see amp error on the receiver. Also check the speaker locations in the vehicle. Doors, back deck, dash etc... If any of the speaker terminals are touching metal in the vehicle you may see amp error displayed. If the speaker outputs are all connected or terminated properly, the Blue/white wire may be the issue. If you are attempting to operate more than 1 or 2 external devices, you may need to use a 12v relay instead of a direct connection to the external devices with the Blue/White wire. The Pioneer GM-A3702 amplifier requires a power connection directly to the vehicle's battery. I recommend 8 gauge cable. Please be certain to put a fuse on the power cable within 12 inches of the vehicle's battery. The amplifier will also require a ground connection to metal in the body or frame of the vehicle. I recommend 8 gauge for the ground cable as well as the power cable. You'll need to run RCA wires from the in-dash receiver's Rear RCA output directly to the amplifier's RCA input. In addition, you'll need to extend the Blue wire with white stripe on the back of the in-dash receiver to the system control terminal on the amplifier. Wiring this way will cause the amplifier to power on and off with the in-dash receiver. You'll know the amplifier is on when you see the power indicator on the amp is illuminated. The wiring colors in nearly every make, model and, year of vehicle are different. The wire colors on the Pioneer wire harness are not designed to match any particular make, model, or year of vehicle's dash wiring colors. Any wire colors that you match from the Pioneer wire harness directly to your vehicle are purely coincidental and may not be the correct connection for proper operation of the in-dash receiver. What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? You mentioned a violet wire. This leads me to believe you are using a receiver with a video screen and backup camera input. If that's the case, you may find this Pioneer Wire Harness video useful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5OpZKiwr8aHaZI This videos explains the violet/white and Green Parking Brake wire and Blue/White system remote wire. I recommend to use a wire harness adapter kit for your installation. Many are available. You can see one example here: metraonline.com/part/71-2106 In many cases you can buy a wire harness that is specific to your vehicle. The wire harness that fits your vehicle will have the same wire colors as the Pioneer wire harness. You just need to match up the wire colors. @deckerdotto60355 жыл бұрын
Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to operate with 4-Ohm to 8-Ohm impedance shown to the internal amplifier. If you go below 4 ohms, you'll see issues like this. If you are using 4 speakers, And one speaker is wired to each of the 4 outputs from the in-dash receiver and the speakers are rated at 4 ohm impedance you should be able to turn the volume up higher than 47. If this is the case it's possible you have a speaker wire that is touching metal somewhere in the vehicle. This can happen at the back of the speaker in a door or other location, or at the back of the in-dash receiver, and will only shut down the in-dash receiver's internal amp when you start to turn up the volume. To test, I recommend to disconnect one speaker at a time. With one speaker disconnected, turn up the volume to see if you can go higher than 47. If you can't go higher than 47 then disconnect another speaker and try again until you find the one (or more than one) that is causing the issue. How many speakers are you using? Are they wired to the front outputs? Or the rear outputs? Or to both? Are you using an external amplifier? What speakers are you using? What is the nominal impedance of the speakers? The nominal impedance is usually printed on the magnet of the speaker. Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to operate with 4-Ohm to 8-Ohm impedance shown to the internal amplifier. @deckerdotto60354 жыл бұрын
I use wire kits when I do install work. The point of the wiring kit at the in-dash receiver is to make the new radio installation easier. The wiring kit for the receiver usually has a plastic connector that fits your particular vehicle. It will just plug into the vehicle's wiring that you unplugged from the factory radio. The other side of the wiring kit has the same color of wires that comes with the Pioneer receiver. You match up the colors and you should be in good shape. You can learn more about wiring kits for receivers here: metraonline.com/parts/MET-TURBOW/M-CAR_HARN Depending upon your particular vehicle, you may also need an AM/FM antenna adapter to fit the new receiver. Do you have to get a wiring kit for the receiver? No. You Don't. However, please be aware that you'll need to identify each of the wires necessary to make the stereo work. Power, ground, accessory, + and - for the each of the speakers, etc... If you're not comfortable with that, I recommend using the wiring kit. As for the amplifier wiring kit, you can buy Power Wire, and proper fuses, and in-line connectors along with ground wire, and RCA cables about 15 feet long. Or you can buy it all in a simple kit. It costs a few dollars, however, I recommend using the kit because the kit makes things easier, the parts are designed to work together, and this leads to fewer mistakes. Which wire is the power??
@deckerdotto60355 жыл бұрын
The Yellow Wire and Red Wire are both required to power up the in-dash receiver. You can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYOVfoJooNx5q8k The Black ground wire is also required to operate the in-dash receiver. When installed in a vehicle, do not connect the Red Wire, and Yellow Wire together. If you don't understand what you are doing I recommend to take your vehicle to a qualified Car Stereo shop for help with installation. Got a buick lacrosse installed w an a vh-1300nex. All connections are made but no power when I turn the ignition. Any help?
@deckerdotto60354 жыл бұрын
The Pioneer AVH-1300NEX was manufactured back in 2017. It sounds like you may have blown a fuse in the vehicle, or on the in-dash receiver, or both, during the installation. For any installation, I recommend to disconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal before working with wiring. I recommend to check the fuse panel in the vehicle, and the 10 amp fuse on the back of the receiver. If a fuse is blown, you did something wrong. Go back and check your wiring before replacing the fuse. Here is the wire harness video for the Pioneer AVH-1300NEX: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5OpZKiwr8aHaZI You can find a full playlist of How To videos from Pioneer about AVH-1300NEX here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZPTfIutp7Nrq9U Please be sure to install the latest firmware for your Pioneer AVH-1300NEX. I recommend taking your vehicle to your local Pioneer Authorized dealer for installation help. Do you have the AM/FM antenna from the vehicle connected to the Pioneer in-dash receiver? Are the speakers functioning properly? What model number of Pioneer receiver do you have? You can find more videos on Pioneer's KZbin Channel here: kzbin.info

I connected the red wire and the yellow wire to get my radio to work but every time I shut the car off and turn it back on the radio always makes me set it all up again idk why it does that
@deckerdotto60354 жыл бұрын
If your clock and radio stations reset each time you start your vehicle your in-dash receiver may have an improper connection for the Yellow Wire. The Yellow Wire must have constant power from the vehicle. Even when the vehicle is switched off. The Red Wire is for accessory and is sort of like the on/off switch for the in-dash receiver. Red should only have power when the vehicle is switched on. Do not connect the Red Wire and Yellow Wire together. Please take a look at this video for more information on wiring your Pioneer in-dash receiver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYOVfoJooNx5q8k You can find more videos on Pioneer's KZbin Channel here: kzbin.info

@deckerdotto60354 жыл бұрын
The Pioneer wire harness is explained in detail in the video above: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYOVfoJooNx5q8k The Pioneer wire harness colors are not designed to match the wiring colors of any particular make, model, or year of vehicle. Any colors that match up are purely coincidental. I recommend to use a wire harness adapter designed for your particular vehicle. Many are available. Here is one example: metraonline.com/part/70-2104 You can find more videos on Pioneer's KZbin Channel here: kzbin.info

Hi! I have a Pioneer DEH1900MP, that I recently hooked up. The device turns on, but the screen flashes on and off. I can’t seem to figure out why or get any information online. Any word on what this means?
@deckerdotto60354 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's an old one. The Pioneer DEH-1900MP was produced back in 2005-2006. The screen flashing likely means a wiring problem. The first possible issue is with the ground wire. Check to be sure the Black wire has a good connection to metal in the body or frame of the vehicle. Another possibility is speaker wires touching each other or metal in the vehicle. I recommend to check the back of the receiver to be sure no speaker wires are exposed and touching one another, or metal. Also check the speaker locations to see that the speaker terminals are not touching metal in the door or rear deck or other are in the vehicle. It's also possible that after 15 years, this product needs to be serviced. You can find more videos on Pioneer's KZbin Channel here: kzbin.info

I can blugin in 250 w amplifier?
@deckerdotto60355 жыл бұрын
The wire harness shown in the video above is for selected Pioneer in-dash receivers. Not for amplifiers. An external amplifier requires separate wiring to the battery of the vehicle. You can see more about amplifiers here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4bUY2h9pNRjqbc and you can find more videos on Pioneer's You Tube Channel here: kzbin.info

I have a 2001 Silverado and I just installed the Pioneer DEH-S4120BT. Most of the wires on the harness matched except one end had red, pink, orange with no corresponding colors that matched the harness coming from the radio. I matched them with the closest color, but there was 1 extra wire left coming from my truck because my truck apparently has more wires than my new radio.... The wire that got left out is orange, simply because there's nothing to connect it to. My new radio works great, but I have 2 problems. My headlights and my cab lights no longer come on automatically. They work off I manually turn them on though. I have been assured that everything is wired correctly, but something is obviously wrong. Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong? If I put the old radio back in the lights work fine lol

Blue wire .. Amp error keeps coming out wher do i connect the blue wire ??
@deckerdotto60356 жыл бұрын
As shown in the video above: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYOVfoJooNx5q8k The Blue/White wire is used to switch on components external to the in-dash receiver, like amplifiers and power antennas. If you don't have external amplifiers or power antennas you don't need to connect the Blue/White Wire. If you are overloading the Blue/White Wire, use a third party relay to switch on the external devices. In addition, "Amp Error" will also appear if the speaker wires are touching one another or metal in the vehicle. Be sure the speaker wires are not touching one another or metal in the door or rear deck. You can find more videos from Pioneer here: kzbin.info

What happen if there is no where to Connect the yellow wire?
@deckerdotto60355 жыл бұрын
I recommend to run a wire to the vehicle fuse box where you can find constant power or to the vehicle battery, with an in-line fuse, for constant power. If you don't use constant power on the Yellow Wire, the in-dash receiver clock, radio station presets, and other functions will reset each time you start the vehicle. My radio won't turn on I think I have everything connected right
@deckerdotto60354 жыл бұрын
If you think you have everything connected correctly, here are a couple possibilities: 1. It's possible you don't have everything connected correctly. Please note: the wire colors in the Pioneer wire harness are not designed to match the wire colors in the dash of any make, model, or year of vehicle. Any wire colors that match are purely coincidence. 2. It's possible you blew a fuse in the vehicle's fuse panel during the installation. Check the vehicle's fuses. Replace if necessary. 3. You blew the fuse located on the back of the Pioneer receiver. Pull out the wire harness and take a look at the fuse on the receiver. Replace if necessary. Please note, disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery during installation. This will help with the whole fuse thing. If you replace a fuse and it blows out again, this means you have something like the receiver's Yellow, Red, or Black wire connected incorrectly. Anyone got help for a 98 honda accord i looked up its radio harness and cross referenced it with this color code but the speakers arent working at all
@deckerdotto60357 жыл бұрын
The video above show wire harness color codes for Pioneer in dash receivers only. The Pioneer color codes are not meant to match up to any given auto maker color codes. Every auto maker uses different color codes for different vehicles, and years. I recommend buying a wire harness kit for your particular vehicle. If you don't understand what you are doing, please go to a car stereo shop for installation.

If you don't understand what you are doing, I recommend taking your vehicle to a car stereo dealer for professional installation. The color codes in this video apply to Pioneer Car in dash receivers only. The color codes do not apply to any auto make, model, or year color codes.
