Stop depending on expensive fossil fuels like home heating oil and convert your HVAC system to a ultra energy efficient heat pump system. Modern technology not only provides comfort cooling and heating heat-round, it’s much cheaper to run than an oil system, quiet and cost effective for every installation.
Completing the installation, we use the Rectorseal RSH-50 surge protection device. Available here: amzn.to/3yb0ACF

You might want to put in a Bosch system even sooner. I put in a ductless heat pump for my nephew, he had all electric heat. It saved him $600 in the first winter! For 100,000 Btu's of heat, a propane furnace will use about 1.3 gallons of fuel. While the ductless heat pump with 20 SEER is only about 5 KW, and the Bosch system only about 4 KW. So what is your electric cost VS spending $1,600 a winter in propane? Maybe the cost of a loan to install a new system will be less than the cost to buy propane for the next two winters, and also save money in the summer on cooling cost too!

Bosch 96 as well. Is it better to use the manual humidity control in conjunction? Second how do I get my heat pump to stay on down to 28 in duel fuel mode? I have solar panels so electricity is cheap. Love your videos!!! Love Bosch!!

@Kangenpower7 6 ай бұрын
With a 5.9 amp electric draw at 240 volts, it would be using a lot less power than a older unit. Your unit is probably 14 SEER and maybe less. The Bosch unit is over 20 SEER, so about 1/2 of the power. They do not have a big surge to start a variable speed compressor. 6 amps X 240 volts = 1,440 watts. Easy to run on a 7.5 KW generator or larger.

What do they do on the 20 degrees and much colder days? Still run the oil burner?
@Kangenpower7
@Kangenpower7 6 ай бұрын
When it is 20F, these Bosch units can still produce their rated full heating capacity. At about 5F, then they will start to produce a little less heat than the full rating. If you happen to have under -10 F, then you might be wishing you kept that oil boiler to run on those few nights each year. Have you ever been in a walk in refrigerator at Costco? It is kept at about 38F, and the compressors have no problem blowing out 20F air to keep the walk in refrigerator that cold. They also make walk in freezers, the same size and even larger, keeping them at 0F or -10F, so the air can blow out at -20F to keep them that cold. Same things with the Bosch heat pumps, they can blow out -20F air on a -10F day, and collect that heat and warm the home. To get 100,000 Btu's of heat, burn 1 gallon of home heating oil, or run a heat pump with about 4 KW to 7 KW of electricity.

Why did your video only contain the work you did on the existing AC system?

How does cost compare to pellet heat? Also, would you do this over a mini split, generally speaking?
@Kangenpower7
@Kangenpower7 6 ай бұрын
The central heat pump with air ducts to each room makes the whole home comfortable. While a ductless system will heat one room or two rooms, while you would need to leave the doors open at night to warm the bedrooms at night. With the Bosch variable speed compressor, they are already as energy efficient as the ductless systems. Compared to pellet heat, well I have no idea how many pounds of pellets it takes to warm your home by 100,000 Btu's. It is about 1 gallon of home heating oil, and 1.2 therms of natural gas, 1.3 gallons of propane, or 30 KW for a electric heater. My 14 SEER 2014 model single speed R-410 heat pump is 8 KW of electricity, while this Bosch system is only about 4 KW to 5 KW to provide 100,000 Btu's of heat. So check your local cost for fuel and electricity. The heat pump is normally the lowest possible cost. So if 1 ton of pellets is $85, check to see how many Btu's it will put out. Then consider that you get the electricity with no shoveling, no moving 50 pound bags of pellets. No waking up to a cold home at 4 am, and needing to feed in pellets!

Have you ever had to modify the top of a cased coil on an upflow unit by cutting out the top 8 inches on each side because the cased coil is too tall and into the trunk line. Way I seen one installed, already existing, was the installer had capped the cased coil and cut 8x20 rectangle holes on each side and butted the trunk line up to it and screwed it to the case. Apparently the inspector had no problem with it. We ripped it out and put proper height unit and case coil along with a plenum transition to the new trunk line. Never heard a guy cuss like the fellow I worked for over that.

Hi Mikey pipes! I have a propane furnace in my home that I installed. It is a modulating furnace by Trane and I spent about $1600 to heat my house this winter. I’m not sure where you got your figures from on that graph at 12:20, but it’s off by a good amount

I am sure he is using national averages. But its relatively easy to do your own calculations (they may even exist online where all you do is plug in numbers). Figure out what you pay per BTU with your propane furnace and compare it to an oil furnce. Then compare it toa similarly sized heat pump and factor in what you pay for electricity. Your $1600 might not be my $1600. I live in MA, where all forms of energy are higher than national average by quite a bit, and I have never personally paid $1600 to heat my house. There's no way one number fits all.

@Kangenpower7 6 ай бұрын
To get 100,000 Btu's from your very efficient propane furnace, it is about 1.1 gallons of propane. While this Bosch unit is about 4 KW - 5 WK in electric. So if you where to install a 3 ton ducted style upflow evaporator on top of your furnace, then you can use the furnace as back up heater on a very cold night, and run the heat pump to provide most of the heating and all of the cooling for your home. At -5F you can switch back to your propane heater.

This is such a informative video especially for homes in Suffolk country who relies on oil. You should expand into the market and offer the Bosch heat pumps.

Stay bright 8 is great but I still don’t use it much. Only when I have combustibles or in tight spot! I’m not a hypocrite as I have used it but I would rather braze than cleaning and fluxing and no flux or particles from sand paper or mesh clothe… Just old school I guess
