You called the new unit a Heat Pump but then it appeared that you did not program it as one on the Ecobee?? You don’t have to put in a fake number to program it as a pro just hit the “skip” button lower left of that screen. In my opinion the Ecobee is a great thermostat if you are into gadgets and having a ton of modern features/controls including wi-fi. The ones you typically install look very basic-good for the no frills customer. If you are installing multi stage high efficiency items those customers will want an Ecobee. Be well 😎

Been using surge protectors for ten years, since a customer's hydro meter blew off the wall after a lightning strike, that took out all the electronics in the house (furnace, AC., computers, phones, TV boxes and TVs, etc) Whole house protector on the breaker panel, and surge protectors on all devices.

Are Peter and Daniel roughly the same age? Peter is definitely learning and getting comfortable with the various procedures you're teaching him but it seems wild how you could pretty much leave Daniel alone with an oxy torch and a cordless drill and he'd have a space shuttle built by the end of the shift. 😂

8:55 You know why the breaker it tripped right? It was because it was an AFCI, and the yellow light shows there was an arcfault. Most likely you cut the transformer wires and it was still hot and caused a arc fault to happen. Just a guess here, or the workers did something that caused the trip, tool being plugged or unplugged etc. GFCI's are even worse, if you turn off the switch to the unit, the breaker is still on, if you happen to touch neutral to ground you will trip it as well, even there was no hot connected. PITA, but hey... 😁👍
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 2 жыл бұрын
looks like a 240v air handler and the line voltage was already unhooked and pushed up out of the way. so nothing they tripped, it sounds like they're having tile work done(tile wet saw in background?) those workers likely plugged in something wet/faulty(afci/gfci combination breaker) or older junk breakers that are overly sensitive and will often trip if a second downstream GFCI is plugged in( many tools and other devices now have GFCI built into the plugs)

10:37 It appears sitting here in my chair the condensate line is running uphill to get to that "Tee". Keep in mind to minimize clogging, use 45s and not 90s. The 90s will slow the water down too much and then won't carry the "cocky" away and will build up at that spot over time. Two 45s can help keep the speed of the water up a bit more if possible. Just speaking from a bit of experience. With that single line on two units if it becomes clogged which ever the lower system it will overflow for sure. I have seen techs plumb in primary condensate line into a much lower pan of a ERV, guess what happens when the line downstream filled up? Filled up the pan of the ERV and leaked all over the ceiling below because it would never hit the condensate float switch on the much higher AC.

Rectorseal rsh 50 instructions say to wire to the line side of the disconnect Brian, HVAC School, teaches the same. Why do you wire to the load side..Also, an additional reason for not installing a filter drier outin the sun is that it will become very hot and the dessicant will release moisture when idle hot sunny day?

I agree you should always do a static pressure check. People just assume that because they are replacing like tonnage, you are ok. You can get away with some undersizing of duct work because of TXV/EXV values. I noticed that Bosch Airhandler does not have a TXV or is there something else built in?

Very interesting, back when I was doing HVAC rubatex was the best line set insulation. I just looked and saw that they were acquired by another company back in 2008. K-Flex is now the owners of the brand rubatex and looks to be still making and selling it. I haven't tried the armor flex you were talking about, is it better than the older stuff we used in the 90ies and mid 2000's, when I last was in the industry?
