Hey Mike, not to criticize here, but a little SPD education. I know that the RSH50 is made for the disconnects, but also keep the wires as short as possible. You are racing the speed of light, well electrons anyway. You need that spike to get to the RSH50 and it to react to the surge before that surge gets down the wire to the device. It is a race between getting to the SPD before the end device. That is why the manufacture wants to make those leads short as possible and straight as possible. The gas discharge and or MOVs need to short that spike to ground to stop it. You are the first person I have seen putting SPDs on the equipment which is an excellent option that I wish others would offer, if even at a small loss leader product sale! You would be surprised by the number of spike caused by things in the house. That is why a multi-layer approach is by far best and SPDs are now required by the NEC 2020 edition. The first layer is a type 1 at the meter itself followed by a Type 2 at the main panel and then type 3 (think power strip or your RSH50) at the devices. Spikes generated by both internal and external devices to the home are protected. For example you will see spikes when the compressor stops for instance when that contactor opens up. Or from the power company as well coming down the line. Just to set expectations, an SPD will NOT stop a direct lighting strike, and its not made for that either. If that strike is a mile away it might help a small surge coming down the line. That is where the type 1 and type 2 units help out at. The type 3 units help protect from internally generated spike / surges inside the home. Its all about will that surge coming down the line find an SPD first or the 8K 100" flat panel TV? Sorry I am a big proponent of SPDs and using the full layered approach to help protect things. I don't know how good Rectorseal is about their warranty as well, but can be a big selling point as well for machine coverage caused by spikes/surges. Keep up the good work sir. 👍😎

A good mechanic is aware of their surroundings. Nail it, if the equipment is running get deltas on the coil. Next move check the evap coil, what’s up there. Check the condenser for the obvious. Fan on, comp on. Why not? The capacitor was a good call, it was fatigued. Good show!

Those high pressure limits must be a issue with desert aire units. Also torque those connections on those contactors they have a tendency to loosen up & cause the over loads on them to blow

Romex in carflex? Back when I had an indoor pool the room temperature mostly followed the water temp, about 89 degrees water temp was really nice. Had a Lochinvar for heating the pool water, in the Wisconsin winter when the house boiler and the pool heater was cranking you could hear the gas meter howling $$$.

Always get to see equipment here that you won’t see anywhere else…BTW, use 10g Wago’s for your surge protectors so you eliminate double stacking wires. Stacking wires can be a code issue depending on disconnect box terminals. Yes, I’m aware the instructions show wiring the way you did it 🤷♂️

Mike, how does that surge protector work when it's not breaking the line voltage? I've been retired for a couple years now and never used them. Seems like it would have to break the line or load. Thanks for the video.
@wd85572 жыл бұрын
With pool cover's you get what you pay for. I know a very very wealthy guy in Michigan who runs his outside pool all year around. His happens to be a salt water set up. You can walk across it and it barley moves he had it custom made. 20:27 mark in your video you can see how the cover drops onto the water, his doesn't do that it is straight level with the concrete. It also had a picture of an elephant head on it. He asked me to walk across it but I chickened out, it just didn't seem like the right thing to do.
@sergiodjf2 жыл бұрын
That condenser is too low to the ground, drawing lots of dust. It may need to be lifted up a little bit or to place a concrete pad underneath to keep it clean longer.

Make SURE YOU TAKE PICTURES of said tool, b/c they won’t warranty it w/o (far as know, at least it makes it “harder” to get a warranty replacement); but after fill out or call and send pics……new tool should arrive in mail days to 2 weeks later. Most “great” tool companies have this kind of warranty policy; just some make it “so much easier” to do a warranty return, but think you’ll have good luck w/ yours. What's your general opinion on indoor pools? I know you've got a fantastic outdoor one. Just thinking if/when I spend the money on a nice pool, I want to be able to use it year round. A few houses in my neighborhood have them, but it seems like they've fallen out of favor in newer builds. Makes sense about using the automatic cover to control evaporation.
@throttlebottle59062 жыл бұрын
indoor pools are a very dumb idea. 24/7 battle between holding the water temperature and air temperature at the perfect level and dehumidifying pretty much 24/7. pretty much the air temp should always be 2F hotter than the water to curb rapid evaporation, either side of that and ugly things start to happen. you also need 24/7 air exchanging to outdoors. so pretty much throwing tons of money away year round.
@robertsitch14152 жыл бұрын
@@PipeDoctor yes that pretty much sums up why only rich people tend to have them. In general pools are only common and desired by typical home buyers in warm states such as California and Florida.

I want an indoor pool, not just because of winter use, but because I'm extremely pasty white, and I burn rather than tanning. I'd forego the retracting roof too, as I'd never want to be in direct sunlight in the pool, lest I get skin cancer! BTW, did you see the VacuFlo FC unit?

Most pool units are designed to cool, dehumidify, Air heat and water heat. Looks like on this one the water heat isn’t hooked up which can also cause nuisance HP trips as pressure builds up in that 3 way valve over time.
