I’m here in south east Texas and enjoy watching a fellow hvac owner working his butt off to make things work with this equipment that is made these days. The manufacturers use us as guinea pigs to see what works and what don’t. In my opinion they have sacrificed longevity for efficiency! I’ve had to do the same as you before to keep customers going. I’ve also used the x1 quick swap as well with a Psc motor and had good success. Thanks for the video keep up the good work!

Found your channel a few days ago, have been watching non-stop since. I love that you upload everyday and keep it raw and uncut. I worked with my father from age 11-18 during the summers in Texas. I have "30 years" experience of fixing friends' AC's (electrical issues). I could run rings around Godzilla and SippyCup at age 18. My dad showed me that this was not the career path I wanted as it wore him out and broke him down as being the sole person in his company. I have a sit down desk job, but got tired of not getting my hands dirty. I decided to go to school online for my HVACR diploma. they advertised in as little as 4 months you could graduate. I had it done in 4 weeks and a GPA of 4.0. Waiting to pay it off (1-2 month left) before they send me my diploma and certificate to go take my EPA 608. This way I can work on the refrigeration side of the equation too if only to help friends and family out. I can also fall back on this path if I have too.

Couldn’t you have used a contactor as a relay for the high voltage going to the motor and hooked a common and green from the thermostat to the 24 volt side that way whenever there’s a call for g it will send power through the contactor and turn the motor on. What do you think ?

Love your videos. In case you weren’t aware, those typical x-13 motors are available everywhere today even Amazon for around $250. Those are Genteq motors and sold under various names with Evergreen being the most popular. Yes it may be true the speed may not match exactly but it doesn’t have to. If you’re that concerned, you have 5 taps so you could select a speed that is closest to what is needed. You could also reprogram these motors very easily as others have indicated if you wanted to match the exact speed. But in its unlikely you would need to change anything. The tap speeds are usually very close to original equipment. There are several problems with a continual run/constant speed motor. One is when the Condenser shuts off, the continual air flowing over the evap will throw lots of humidity into the building air. You will likely smell it for about 5 minutes or so. The second issue is if this is a heat pump/heat strips, the heat strips require a faster speed than the air conditioner. You run a risk of the strips overheating. Just a thought.
@roberts11593 жыл бұрын
Good points about the humidity level from the fan running 24/7 and odor. Didn’t think about the heat strips if this was a heat pump. So the $250 price from Amazon is the fan motor only and Ecm module that connects to motor must be purchased separately I assume. Personally would not want a 24/7 fan in my home.
@rogerf36223 жыл бұрын
No its the whole motor complete with ECM module. The OEM prices for the same thing are ridiculous and upwards of $700 or more. Most supply houses offer the Evergreen motors but there is usually a markup of $100 or so over the $250. Another thing to consider is when an ECM X-13 motor fails, it may just be one of the speed taps usually #2. If you switch that wire to another tap, it may run the motor and at a little higher speed. This is useful in that you can get a customer immediately working while you wait for a replacement.
@roberts11593 жыл бұрын

@chulo72703 жыл бұрын
Don’t know if I misunderstood but you said the blower runs 24/7 if there’s a UV light? That would bring humidity into the home from the coil and pan when compressor is off. Shouldn’t it be that if the light is in the duct, it only comes on when the compressor is on and if the light is in the return at the coil, then that light stays on all the time but either way the blower cycles normally?
