My best friend just went through this. His boss had turned all of his employees against each other. 10 man team at each other’s throats... instead of watching each other’s backs. Mind games, threatening them with their jobs constantly, even laughing at their concerns... Everyone started dreading going into work, everyone was miserable while at work, and the focus was getting off of work, rather than being productive and maintaining quality. Needless to say after several months of this my buddy and 4 of his teammates went to the guy over their boss. They all said either he get rid of their boss or they’re all quitting effective immediately. With-in 48 hours their boss was gone. Their new boss is more goal oriented, laid-back, and encouraging. With-in a week the entire team did a 180. You get farther by building people up rather than tearing them down.

So many people out side of the welding industry need to see this video. People every where need to see this video. I'm a welder also an I can't tell you how many people I've worked with and still do that do this crap. Try and be-little someone behind their backs. It's ridiculous. People need to grow up and worry about their selves. But I'm glad you put this out there. I'm gonna share the hell out of this video. Have a Good week and weekend bud. Hope the wife and baby are doing awesome!Stay safe an stay YOU my friend!

There is no shame in being the better man, everyone has repairs at some point.. EVERYONE. it don’t matter what hourly rate you’re making, we are human and can’t be perfect. I’m the same way Jacob, really burns me up to have someone talking down on me especially to the boss. Keep burning them rods, you’re gunna change this industry slowly but surely

Great video! I fell into that trap also. For me tho when i woke up to what i was doing i had to figure out why i was doing it. It came to me that for me, it was because i wasn't happy with what was going on in my life. When i understood that, i was able me to make small adjustments to what i was doing, and how i thought. Bad mouthing stopped, and i can't tell you how much better i felt when i stopped bad mouthing. Just being open about it. Maybe it will help others. Now i am able to feel the real joy when other people are succeeding. Blessings

Such powerful words...glad to know I'm not alone out there, thanks Mr Schofield for your time ... I have walked away from so many welding jobs just because the bad mouthing is astronomical that you don't wanna be involved . You can be the most bad a$$ welder and the worst welders will destroy a man's reputation simply because they can't weld as good as you...it goes way deeper and beyond that morally when you are welding for a actual living providing for your family and building future's for our family's

This is great I feel like I went through this and I will say when you only compliment others no matter what you really think. Eventually everyone will come to you for your work just because you are nice about it. Honesty is absolutely the best policy. I live my life around that. Way easier than remembering a circle of lies. And you will end up having friends that are like minded and not jealous. Thank you I felt compelled to comment

Vicious cycle! It's mostly about attitude and performance. Most people don't want to see people succeed. It's sad but it happens constantly. The funny part about that whole situation is if the foreman or superintendent is the same way you will never be able to stop it. I've had some great bosses who wouldn't let this go on. The ignorant people got ran off. The way it should be!
@ScoobySnax885 жыл бұрын
Ther always seems to be that one person no matter where you go. From my experience in different jobs, if you confront the person level headed but firm they will usually back up and sometimes it sets their demeanor straight. Either way it's one less person to deal with once youve said your piece. Best to confront it than shy away

Amen to that. The oilfield has always been kinda cut throat and dog eat dog mentality just for the simple fact everyone out here knows this isn’t going to last forever. The greed gets ahold of people and they will say or do anything to be the one to keep working. I know exactly what your talking about. Don’t get me wrong I’ve welded with guys that would go above and beyond to help you out, but I’ve also worked with some that will not even give you the time of day to prove yourself. That’s just how some people are, but I would much rather know that someone doesn’t care for me, than someone acting like a buddy then backstabbing me at every turn. Unfortunately snakes are hard to spot. 6 years of oilfield welding in WTX next month and I have seen this only get worse and worse. Love the videos, Take care and God bless.

My father a pipe liner told me that this is the way of the world. No matter what on average 1 in 6 is a solid D*ck . Avoid pipeline politics if at all possible . People twist things around to look good . Measure your words . Some times the best thing said is nothing at all . One of the worst is original sin . Early in my career I was fired from a job because of a conflict between a individual and my father 20 tears prior . This person was a real snake . up front as well he had someone else fire me which I found out later from another company foremen . If you have family members in the same business it is incumbent upon you to be a straight shooter or you could affect their lively hood . Reputation in this business is everything ,and it is not just your ability it is also your moral character . Don't be telling lawyers truths . Have a good one Jake

It must be the Schofield genes to face people who talk crap. I have been that same way all my life, and all my immediate family are the same way. Do anything you can for other people and never say anything about someone that you would say to their face, and don't talk smack about us because we will call you out on it. Life is so much easier being this way because you never have to worry someone might find out what you said about them.

I could probably be a lot farther along in life if I back stabbed and talked smack about my fellow employees but at some point I would have to live with the regret and everyone knowing how I got so far. At the end of the day when I go home I know that I was honest and fair. And that takes me farther in life as a person then any other short cut to the top. Be your own man. And life will balance out on it's own.

Don't be angry about it, that's how the devil slides into your heart, through your anger. Forgive him and move on, he can't do good because no good is in him. The devil works overtime to turn people's hearts angry, so you must work overtime to do what is right and just. Forgiveness is the path to salvation. Anger is the path to damnation. Don't judge him, just know he can't help himself because the devil has entered his heart. Forgive him and pray for him.
