OK guys I know there is a lot of music to this video. I completely understand that maybe we should’ve done a voiceover or whatever. But the wind ruin the audio to most of the video and so there was just really such small clips of audio that was usable that it made it kind of pointless. So instead of making an instructional video we took some clips out of the video and just built something that was kind of fun and interesting and hopefully you guys enjoyed it so we are back and we are filming and we are uploading videos we have a bunch of stuff on stainless right now that we’re editing through and trying to build videos on to help the beginner beginner.

For what it is worth don’t breathe the tungsten dust it’s really bad for you. Buy your self a max star 160 and ditch the pancake and get a Jackson 4x5 lens it will really help when your welding in position. You have really improved a ton since welding in your home shop!!

Do you have any tips for the bottom quarter? Just got my first set of stainless papers, and the bottome quarter kills my back in position

Are you purging the pipe constantly until the root pass is complete?
@Jay222223 жыл бұрын
What does that mean? Flowing gas through the piping until the root welds are completed would be my best guess? What's the purpose of purging. I assume it's important with stainless, is it important in any other situations?
@lilbobeat8983 жыл бұрын
I'm sure he purges up until he put the cap on (last weld layer snake belly) or atleast purges while rooting and 1st feel pass
@peetky86453 жыл бұрын
@@Jay22222 purging a long pipe section gets expensive. if you are buying the gas, they have silicone stoppers on long poles that you can push down the pipe to near the joint to reduce the volume of the interior purge. expensive up front, but saves lots in the long run. purge is only important on the tack and root. so--you fit, tape, purge, tack, root. you tape around the joint except at the tacks to minimize the gap for the argon to escape and air to entrain. you then peel away the tape as you move around the joint.
@Spiff223643 жыл бұрын
Man free hand that root. Free hand is way faster than walking the cut bro. Free hand the root than when u go to flush it out free hand it an push metal on both sides of the bevel whenever that tungsten goes to the right side push metal an wash across middle than go to left bevel an push metal an wash across. Do that till u get to the top. This is how u flush the pipe out with one pass this is how u weld fast.

Hey my names Elijah Farmer and I'm currently in school to get my welding certificates and have some questions I think u might be able to help me figure out. What would be you best advice to become a travel welder pipe, structural, or industrial type welding and eventually be able to get my own rig and travel? I'm 19 and I graduate in the fall of 2022 and want to hit the ground running but don't know where to start. What would be ur recommendation? The only experience I have is what I learn in school and I understand that being a helper/hand is the best way to get experience is that true and if so how to I find work? Any advice would be great and I love to videos man. Thanks

@jacob schofield How are you set up to purge that pipe? I’d think there’s a way to reduce the amount of gas used but I’m not sure what it would be.
@JacobSchofield3 жыл бұрын
We use instrument tube with a quick connect on one end and then tape two pigs on the other end. That way we are only purging about 8” of pipe
@DdgeluvinHic3 жыл бұрын
@@JacobSchofield that’s pretty clever. Thanks for the reply and thanks for making good videos.

I have been wanting to invest in a Yeti cooler or Engel. Jake you being a man that lives in and out of a cooler which do you suggest?
@eddiegirvan23943 жыл бұрын
im an ironworker and welder for 40 years and i think the engel cooler is the greatest lunch box ive ever had. great for kayaking to. no river water ever gets in. keep them latched and in the shade they ll keep food and drinks cold all day easy. yettis are great and bear proof but a freind of mine had his border collie get into his in under 15 minutes
