Professional pilot is always looking way ahead of their aircraft and you are demonstrating that and I love it

that is very important Bernard. You have to be at least 1 minute "ahead" of your aircraft in your plan of actions and the cockpit setup. The technical term for this is "situational awareness". Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Made me wonder, "Flaps 10 deg- check speed" is what we are trained to say. But what we should do is different; "Speed check (then) flaps 10 degrees". Also seems instead of non- specific "speed", we ought say the exact flap extension max speed. Something like, "Speed 140* or less / flaps 10 degrees". Details matter, surprised this wasn't thought of long before me. Am I missing something? Love the vids Guido. *the specific number for the aircraft

@Guido Warnecke Schönes Video, Capt. Guido!
@GuidoWarnecke
@GuidoWarnecke 3 жыл бұрын
Excessive flare due to excessive speed.

Happy landings, Nils

@GuidoWarnecke
@GuidoWarnecke 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, terrain is shown relative to the aircraft's altitude. It turns yellow if the aircraft is less than 1,000ft above that terrain and it turns red when it is less than 500ft. This is not dangerous on an approach, but of course - in this case - you are not allowed to drift the the right. Also all missed approach procedures are disegne to turn to the left, over the open sea. Watch the video again and check of you see a change in color. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Other than the rough ATC, I love how easy it is to follow along with your approach using the G1000 suite. @GuidoWarnecke

Hi Abdulla, I wish you best of luck with your flight training! My original PPL was acquired in Saskatoon, Sask. Aircraft can be flown according to the license you have. If you have a Canadian license you can fly a Canadian aircraft all over the world. However you cannot fly an aircraft that is registered in the Middle East or somewhere else other than Canada. A few countries in Europe accept each other's licenses but that is rather the exception. You need then to get either a new license of that country or a license validation. Different from case to case. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

ME Rating, but when I change from Piper to Cessna... for example with the trim I am instinctivley reaching next to the pilot seat, but in the cessna it's not there.... sounds stupid, I know, but habits can be strong....

@GuidoWarnecke
@GuidoWarnecke 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mike. I apologize;ogoze again for the bad audio. Not sure what caused that. Red screen: The map on the G1000 shows terrain, relative to the aircraft's altitude. if the terrain is 1000 feet below the aircraft to turns yellow, if it is 500 feet or less it turns red. Hence on landing there is a lot of "red" terrain around. This airport has high mountains to the right of the approach path. The colored terrain helps a lot with situational awareness. @GuidoWarnecke 3 жыл бұрын
Quite a lot of aircraft. The mot important difference is the cockpit setup and the avionics. The "flying" part is quite easy. Most aircraft follow the same principles of flight. Just limitations and speeds are different. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Hi Guido, What is your impression about this particular plane ? My employer is looking for a SET with low operating cost and I though that this type is the perfect fit. And thank you for this excellent video
@GuidoWarnecke
@GuidoWarnecke 3 жыл бұрын
Like any aircraft, it depends on your mission profile. The M500 is very fast, pressurized with reasonable operating cost. The payload is limited and the cabin is not particularly spacious. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Thanks for the ride Guido. In Ferry Flying, is Total Fuel Consumption or Total Time to Final Destination the "Name of the Game" ?
@GuidoWarnecke
@GuidoWarnecke 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you James. Fuel is a big (not the biggest) cost factor, so it needs to be controlled. Also in the absence of alternate airports, you need to watch your fuel reserves on landing. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Guido, maybe it is a silly question. But you set the QNH in what moment of the flight? Based on the transition level given by ATC?
@GuidoWarnecke
@GuidoWarnecke 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mauricio, there are no scilly questions in aviation... Technically the QNH should be set at the transition level during descent. It is common practice to set the QNH the moment you get a descent clearance to an altitude below the transition level, This is to avoid to forget the set QNH. Even with checklists that can happen and has happened. At a low minimum ILS that can be VERY critical! happy landings, Capt. Guido

Hi Shane, not sure what the reason was. ATC was nt easy to understand, but not as bad as in the recording. Most likely a loose cable contact. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Hello cmte! You fly a lot of different machines, always when you're going to fly a new piece of equipment do you do an instruction flight with someone who already operates or not? I've flown the Meridian, cool little plane! Good flights always, hug!

Thank you Comandante Cruvinel. I fly a lot of different airplanes and the biggest challenge is the cockpit setup. I am trained in a lot of system but I always take time in the cookout to "adjust" and to familiarize with the cockpit. The "flying" part is easier, most of the airplanes fly the same. Just different limitations and speeds. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Surely it would be “speed checked, flaps down” in that order? Otherwise there is no value in checking the speed (the purpose of the check is to ensure the airspeed is within limitations for moving the flaps). Guido, I wonder if, rather than the pop-ups showing a picture of a knob or button, you’d focus on making it so that the aircraft instruments are readable in the video. Without that there is no real value in having the video - could just listen to the audio with some writing on the screen and get the same result as now.

You are correct on the sequence. Thanks for your input. I have the newest videos full with 4k resolution, which makes details better visible. I am aware that there is sometimes an information overload in the videos with subtitles and pop ups. Need to weigh up what is best. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

@@GuidoWarnecke I actually like the popups, it allows me to follow along better. Especially with different panels, PFDs/MFDs and potential multiple places the change can be made. I quite often skip back to make sure I know how/what just happened. Just another opinion, I guess everyone might have different objectives. It looked like a lot of terrain over on your right there. Is 'Charlie Charlie' universal for 'correct'? Or is it a regional thing? I've never heard it before. Thanks!
