Interesting how the Swedish version has it from a Swedes perspective, while the English version is from a religious Protestant’s perspective
@nivsen59863 жыл бұрын
The whole album is actually written in this way. Swedish album from Swedish perspective and english album from bystanders perspective. A lifetime of war for example in Swedish follows a single soldier (ok not directly Swedish but yeah) and the horrible life he lives where as the English version focuses on the suffering the war brought to the people. Carolus Rex in swedish from the Swedish perspective is a song about a legendary savior to rule us into greatness where ass the English version is more extreme and tells of this dangerous king who will bring destruction to his enemies.
@nobblicker59687 ай бұрын
That's how it is for all the Swedish versions. As an example, in The Carolean's prayer, the english version is sung about the Caroleans from an outsider perspective whilst the swedish version is from the perspective of a Swedish person.

Swedish is better than English tbh edit: Okay, listen here. i never said any language was bad. I said that I enjoy the swedish version more than the english one. I don't give a single fuck about how German, Swedish and English are germanic languages. This is my opinion. I like swedish better, no need to post a reply saying that German is better or that German and swedish sound the same. I honestly couldn't care less.

A muffin There's no German version of this song. And no. Pfft. Sweden articulate their words. German's just do some hapfsydafs like Denmark.

ParadoxalObserver it's kinda the same for me. But I enjoy the swedish one better. His voice doesn't really "cling" to the song in english for me.

***** i was thinking if i had an time machine so that i could travel there. i would promise people of different professions. for example. a scientist, an electrician, a blacksmith,a soldier,an engineer and an expert in economics and a historian and arkeologist. in order to assist me in taking over the world with my knowlage of the future, which i could use to perhaps trade place with a king by trading him an ligter, a cheeseburger and an old gameboy console :) and then proceed to make myself ruler of the world and by doing so creating a better present, a society of which that is many hundreds of years more developed than we are today... sucks that i dont have one..

Ther is much more meaning in 'Der Löwe aus Mitternacht' as just the word-per-word-translation of 'The Lion of Midnight', and it could be said (as a theory) that germans gloryfied him with the name to make him a friend in the eye of the civilians as well as in Gustav's own ego. Some kind of psychological warfare you can say. Even the translation is very poethical, it grounds on a missunderstanding for a an old nordic word for the 'north' as region, what sounds similar as the word for 'darkness'(well, north =darkness, live 7 month there and you will know why xD). 'Der Löwe aus Mitternacht' in german means the lion that came from the north(or out of the darkness/from the lands we call that way) as well as the 'lion who is made of midnight' what - hell - might even sounds epicly cool to us these enlightend days.

Gustav Adolph: the Überchad of Sweden: • Pretty much created the Swedish Empire • Nicknames included “Lion of Midnight,” “Lion from the North,” and “The Golden King” • All but invented the tactics behind musket warfare • Considered by Napoleon and General Patton to be one of the world’s best military leaders • Defeated Prussia in battle • Died leading a cavalry charge

Swedish versions of the carolus rex album songs are far better than the english. You miss so much of the epicness in the english versions.
@Nobleshield2 жыл бұрын
Is it just me, or is the melody for this a faster version of Ruina Imperii (or, rather, Ruina Imperii is a slower version of this)? They sound similar, which would make sense because Lion From the North is about the start of the swedish power, and Ruina is the end.
