It's not that season 2 has been 'approved,' it's that it's already bought and paid for and HBO Max will have to drop those episodes knowing they'll go down like a narcoleptic hooker. That's the only laugh this show is getting out of me. 😂

Producer Guy is *MUCH* less stupid in this one, and raises entirely legitimate concerns with uncharacteristic frequency. I love it. This is the first one of these I’ve seen where Ryan isn’t just pointing out the flaws in a poorly-conceived project, he’s clearly upset about it. Again: I love it! More, please. I mean, I recognize that Producer Guy has to stay pretty neutral, so you can’t do this every week, but even so I would like to see him borderline-breaking character now and again. If the show, movie, or book has existed and is culturally relevant to a point where the characters and literature are common knowledge, then changing races based simply on them not being white is pretty racist and revisionist. For one, it lends to the thought that modern, diverse writers can't make new, engaging content themselves but only mutate and revise classic literature. On the other hand, it makes a point that having white people in a role is wrong, to the point that instead of, lets say, just adding new characters, the writers change everything about them. Then, they make it their objective, as in Velma with Fred, to make any white character who isn't LGBT and especially male, to be the most pathetic, worthless, stupid or evil character in the show. Imagine if Black Panther race swapped to white and/or other colors of cast? All of Wakanda was changed, from motif to their personalities. The Black Panther was turned white, all of the women soldiers were mixed and the only black guys showed up as typical racial stereotypes of bumbling, hood, ghetto guys that always mess up. That would be, rightfully called bigotted and racist because it would be making a point that the show, as it was, with an all black main cast, as written, was not good enough. So, race swapping is something I think that people should be against, even if the source material is 10 years old or even 200 years old. Unless an okay to casting is given by the original creators. For example, people threw a fit when Scarlett Johansson was cast as the MC in Ghost in the Shell, even though it was the Japanese producers that wanted her. Not to mention, she played a person in a customized android body, so it didn't matter what race she was. But, the rest of the cast was diverse, save the fact that NONE of her team were Japanese as they were in the show, but their race swaps were okay.
