This gentle curious approach reminds me of what I've been doing lately: a request statement, "Thank you for showing me my issues are already solved." After that request of "show me, " the subconscious looks for solved issues, and on a conscious level, you can point them out... there's a solved problem, there's another and another. Even if they're small issues like breakfast, parking, or clothing to wear. It is training to see truth instead of trying to convince. Thank you for all you do, Forrest. I share your videos with everyone 😊

Another gem Guru Ji !! The moment we affirm, we "may" come to a conclusion, which could be incorrect, therefore stop seeking. At the same time "affirmation" done gently, done with a bit of curiosity is good, because we do need to take action, "do", then "be". Done correctly, affirmation results in faith, then knowing/experience/realizing. Done incorrectly, affirmation could lead to stop further seeking, being dogmatic and stop growing. A subtle difference.

Oddly enough, this week I was reading about self-perception in the context of psychology. William James said that act often precedes and determines mood. In this sense, the game of faking it ‘till you become it sounds more and more appealing. There’s an affirmation I have used for years now: “Every day in every way I am getting better and better.” Since I frame myself that way, I try to provide evidence of it through my actions. A good dose of lovingkindness is absolutely necessary when I feel I fall behind. Paradoxically, by giving myself love and compassion, I am actually I am getting better at being more gentle with my process. Thanks for sharing your insights, Forrest. Blessings and blissings!

Well explained. ❤❤❤❤ I only use Affirmations i only believe in, even if it's 10% belief, I try to increase the feelings everytime I say it. One at a time.

A funny thing happened , SRF had a 1 day online retreat today that popped up on my video sidebar. Being curious, I clicked on it and it was ..... Affirmations for spiritual growth! (not the exact wording ) A Swami Chidananda hosted the retreat and there was some kirtan, mostly Yogananda's writings. I did not watch the whole online retreat, but the monks did good at chanting OM Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya. 😊

Thankyou!!!!! I have thought about this for many years. And i have heard therapists say that affirmations are a bad idea. i find that an idea you aren't sure you can believe in can actually set you up for self sabotage. in IFS therapy you deal with parts of the self, and one of the most important things is to find out what the part believes, why , what the feeling is and what is the potential for change. and the key is curiosity. By the way , - thankyou for your videos they are excellent; particularly the breathing ones for helping with anxiety . Interesting you would put up the ee cummings at the end, we used it at our wedding.

I was anxious when I started watching the video but you answered my question. If we create the affirmations based on our own experience, lessons and awareness, after doing all the work you said - assessing, being curious, diving in, then they are personalized and planned to override the existing limiting belief. I also realised that the affirmations will also keep changing as we evolve

Thanks for this, Forrest. I always found affirmations strange, this explains why. Best wishes from Wales!

I agree in general. But I experienced something interesting: When I first was introduced to the affirmation "I am Love", and asked to repeat it over and over, I was really struggling, because I didn't believe it. It actually made me nauseous and I couldn't really do it. But still repeating this and saying it out loud many times actually did something in the background. It was like a seed that was planted and which grew despite my aversion. Now this seed has fully blossomed into a mighty truth that has become obvious and blissfull. So I think the power of the affirmation also depends on it's level of truth, and actually saying the words does make a big difference.

Dangerous, also think it creates incoherence and fragmentation in personality. Even I was doing Hoponopo. I am sorry L, please forgive me L, Thank you L, I love you L. Repeating over and over Suddenly y listen elaborate on. I started again saying it, but expanding: I am sorry L because I wasn't able to accept/understand etc this or that...
