The interviewer and Frank are sitting way too close together. They're both leaning away from each other throughout. Clearly they're in each other's personal space. It makes the whole thing look uncomfortable. All the time I'm thinking, "Just pull your chairs apart".

Frank always is hoping, again and again, that Obama is "finally" "starting to.." understand, realize... you know, the truth and become the progressive he really is or can be.... Yeah, this is very unfortunate. Frank seems smarter than this...

Yeah, it's pretty sad that, in the final analysis, Thomas Frank just doesn't get it. But this is why his books are so attractive - he has this optimism, this belief that people can open their eyes and see what he's talking about, and that they'll change and things will be so much better, when the reality is that they won't. Humans simply don't evolve that quickly, and we're still basically at the same level of political understanding that drove Richard II's nobles to murder Wat Tyler in 1381. It's been 637 years and very little has changed.

He maybe knew, but thought it was better to (especially at this forum) try and persuade Obama to some degree while Obama still has power. Or, maybe we're too cynical
