This is a long video, but is it interesting to watch? I found it fun to go back through and see my successes, failures and progressions. If you want to see a follow up critiquing the next round of band shoots give this comment/video a fat thumbing and I'll make sure to queue it up!

Interesting and relatable. Not a photographer by any means (still have my D5000), but it's always entertaining to see a react video!

Hey PJ! I’m 19 years old and for the past 2 years I’ve focused heavily on video but have always had a super concentrated interest in photography. I’ve recently started getting photography jobs and have actually been hired as a photographer for a band (whenever they need me) and I just wanted to say that your videos have helped me out a lot as far as what to do/not do on these shoots. Thank you!

Hey PJ, I really enjoyed this video and seeing your progression over time with your photography. I certainly think this would be a great continuing series. Thanks as always for the awesome content. I have my first band shoot coming up next month, I'm pretty apprehensive, to be honest, as it's quite a milestone for me. Is there anything I should have in my mind to remember for my first shoot? There are three members in this band I'll be photographing; regarding focusing, do I simply use manual focus and focus on the middle member, using a decent aperture like f/5.6 to enable to get them all in focus? Thanks in advance PJ!

Hannah O'Brien Photography thanks for the lovely comment Hannah :) With three members you should be fine at 5.6. As a general rule I focus on the person second from the front but three people is not that much. And power to you, if you can shoot manual focus - personally I can’t. I would think you would get more useable shots on autofocus though! Good luck!!

You're more than welcome PJ! :) Ah okay, that's really good to know about that focusing tip. Crap, I didn't mean manual focus, meant to say by manually changing the focus point to the middle. I definitely think I'd struggle with manual focus too lol. I'm a bit nervous about having to direct the band as to how to pose, what's a good icebreaker to start the shoot off well, in terms of posing? And thank you PJ; fingers crossed it'll go well.

Hi PJ, You know I'm following your work for some time because I'm now 1 year doing photograhy (actually means I bought a camera ;) ) I never tried a bandshoot because I did not had any knowhow of shoots/ off camera lights/... I want to try it out soon first with a friend to model and if that worked i will try it out with a band. I bought a yongnuo triggerset for nikon and a yongnuo YN685 Nikon to try it out. I will use also off camera flash for DJ's and Nightlife crowd shots ect. I found every minute of the video interesting because i know I am in that position you were back in those days. 21year, just started, wanna learn a lot, ... Thanks for all the info PJ hope to see some more shoots you did! PS: I have it to that LR gives you first a JPG style photo and then the RAW file that needs to be edited ;)

Jurian thankyou for the comment my friend, always appreciate seeing your name pop up down here. It's an exciting journey and I'm glad to be a part of yours, make sure you post some stuff up in the group when you do shoot some bands!

$150?? I think I'm underselling myself
@PJPantelis6 жыл бұрын
$150 split between 5 band members is a very reasonable price. If you have the confidence you can deliver, you should consider bumping it up a bit :)
