I got my colony to a bit over 200 people and got bored, it was fun blocking all the airlocks and watching armed intruders die though. It's a good idea is to have a security centre filled with guards and an armoury behind the airlocks to the star ports so armed intruders are killed immediately. You can keep the security centres with engineers and workers for the telescope and radio consoles somewhere else.

Nick I did something similar to you. I got to around 250 and ran out of space to house people. Security pod next to visitor airlock worked well. But I didn't close air locks I just liked to see a good shoot out. 30 armed guards. I did the sign and the monolith. Laser and other stuff to bump up prestige. Do you remember the robots voice from battle of the planets? Same guy. ✌🏻️🇬🇧

what i did, i built buildings that surround the two pads one big and one, with two airlocks inside, whenever intruders come, i close the two airlocks and wait until they die. i didnt need any gurdians after...

The in-game manual does state that lasers do have a radius. Hopefully the developers add a visible radius for them in a future patch.

Really enjoyed this video. I picked up planetbase from the August humble bundle and was constantly cursing my poor colonist to certain death. I think I have a much better plan now. Thanks for the tips

a big tip for the 2nd planet solar panels are half as efficient but you still need to build a network of them for backup a long with a lot of storage because the wind will die for 3-4 days at a time once in awhile.

+starmax1000 You just need to rely on Wind turbines and a whoooooooooooole lot of power collectors to make up for days without wind. Thats the only difference besides aesthetics I have found.

You need more Robots. I am playing on the third planet at the moment with 120 Colonists and around 35 Robots (10 Drillers, 5 Repair and roughly 20 carrier-Bots) so mostly the colonist don't have to carry anything and they are fully concentrating on working the machines.

One last tip you didn't add to your solid list, out of stubbornness, is that you should really loop your power storage to your other buildings, so that one meteor won't wreck you (yes, I know you have four lasers, don't take chances). :p

Apple Pie Hahahah :) I do own it. Once you get around 300 colonists, your base takes up about a full screen from any angle. The thing about filling up a map would be that the more people you have, the more of a stockpile you need to maintain to keep things from crashing and burning. It would be cool to see a constant laser-show on the 3rd planet though from a full map!

84 is not much... at all... the basic objective 100 and the secondary is 200. Some people have built to 650. the difficulty is exponential so 84 is still in the very easy
