@MsLarilord We met Phil at the High Voltage Festival in London last year (2010). I heard he wanted to talk about boxing, which is right up my street. Phil was a pleasure to talk to you, much like Andy Parker of UFO. He was a real gentleman and whatever you think about the man himself, he talks with a great deal of passion and I like people like that. Nothing worse than someone who just says what he thinks people want to hear. And I still think Phil would make a great commentator...

I don't know shit about boxing, but thanks Phil for recognising the British English word 'Football', versus 'American Football'. You know he appreciates the UK.

@Spunkalish You misunderstood him. He said "MMA is more like real fighting" as in MMA is more like what happens when two people get in a fight not for sport but only to try to beat each other up. They would just do what they could to win. MMA is more complete unarmed combat. A boxer doesn't have to worry kicks, knees, elbows and about what does he do if his opponent takes him down to the ground? How does he defend against submissions, escaping submission holds, how does he get back up, etc.

The other thing Phil is forgetting is the rise of MMA. There are plenty of young, talented, guys in MMA willing to put in the work in the gym and make a good living fighting. Simply put MMA is overtaking boxing in popularity in the US. It's just a more exciting sport honestly, it's more like real fighting instead of just punching.

The bottom line: with every passing year, the public becomes less interested in boxing. It's a snowball effect. This trend will continue.

@Alexanderpinero1991 Many former heroin addicts maintain a certain amount of a youthful look. The drugs preserve them.

neither Lewis nor foreman were Americans. They were British. Now it's Klitschko brothers who are not Americans either.

@xhuntarianx Boxers still get paid a hell of a lot more than Mixed Martial Artists. That's why you don't see many professional boxers going into MMA. Also boxing isn't any less of a "real sport" or "real fighting" just because it's one fighting style. By your logic kickboxing or jiu jitsu or judo or any other martial art by itself isn't "real fighting". That's a typical elitist MMA attitude right there.

Phil should start paying attention to MMA. Boxing is dead in the U.S....MMA has taken over. Far more exciting sport.
