Aiming in an ESF is really all about practice and having a good feel over your aircraft. It just comes naturally with practice once you have put a decent amount of time to flying your ESF, generally light, rapid keystrokes are best for precision aiming.

When I fly with friends, I do a little trick I call "leading the enemy". When someone's on my tail, I start flying away in a straight line while trying to avoid his nose cannon, and my friend gets on his tail. That way my friend has a way easier time landing shots on the aircraft. Also, the best team is a liberator and an ESF

I capture and encode in the highest quality h.264 that the capture card can handle. Unfortunately a lot of this quality is lot when uploaded to KZbin. I am working on putting up 1080p videos in the future as well.

LMS, flying ESFs I find using the A and D keys is very hard to get precise aim down your sights, especially when banking and rolling. How do you deal with this? Is it just something you have to practice, and use tiny 'blips' of the keys for fine tune aiming, or are there ways you can make your horizontal aim more easy to control?

great vid, really helpfull. im on Ceres server, here we dont have as much competetitive air and most you see are either easily downed or just outright dominant. theres few people like me in the middle road. im learning the ropes of the barrel roll turn now as i think regular turning and reverse arent enough to effectively dogfight more skilled pilots. i fly a scythe, i used to have dogfighting 1 for quite some time, and just tried the frames in VR. i like the hover one more, it turned [cont]

Most people that play Planetside are generally not to bothered about learning to fly or the air combat overall. There is no point forcing people into doing something there not really interested in, as its just gonna be a frustrating experience for both of you. Instead I would take the people in your outfit who genuinely want to fly and nurture them, fly together constantly and practice some drills. Once you have a small airsquad operating you'll find other people start to become more interested.

Another question: Is there an fps threshold at which you find ESF flying to be unenjoyable/unplayable? Flying over the zerg usually drops my fps to 20-30, and I find it makes flying, especially aiming, extremely difficult, forcing me to back off and find a quieter area.

I fly naturally with the mouse. No keybindings. Some people do prefer to use pitch up & pitch down but I don't really like them because its not as precise as just using mouse control. It is useful for newer pilots though.

[cont] out. but the dogfighting frame has its merits too, you start missing it when you unequip it. anyway, i use 3 keybindings, that is pitch up and down on my 2 extra mouse buttons, since i mostly have limited room for my mouse and tend to overshoot when having high sensitivity. 3rd binding is analog throttle to e. has helped me with better controlling of reverse. my most common A2A loadout atm is rotary and A2Am, of which i only use the latter as starter, finisher, or for lib huntin [cont]

These are good Videos, I'm actually the XO for Armored F1ST on Waterson and have been working for months to get the general flying skills of the outfit to a respectable level. And its been a LOT more difficult past a certain point than I ever expected. Basic level flight training is easy enough to get just from setting up basic games in VR to get people flight time, but this type of stuff is hard to get many people interested in. It takes time away from XP and certs, to hear many speak... Ideas?

i would love to learn how to fly in 3d person view i can do your barrel roll in 3d person but only in open space but i cant maneuver around things in third person its just seems to sensitive so i have to go to 1t person view to fly around things

well, it's not that hard to figure out what to get isn't it? You just get the best nose cannon (I think its the rotary could be wrong doe), you improve ammo capacity and reload or whatever feels better for you, and then you get the best airframe for your style of dogfighting, generally the dogfighting airframe, but the racer speed one, or especially the hover stability can be good too. You can also improve your afterburner turbo boosters for more mobility and escapes, get a2a missiles for more dmg, get rocket pods for some anti ground and anti lib/galaxy or nothing if you dont need it. Also, if you have problems with lock ons you can get flares, but if you don't you can try something else out that is to your liking.

Do not use your crosshair. If it distracts to much even turn it of (f11 I think) just to practice. Look at where your bullets are going, and only at that. After a while you'll get the feel

Vanu pilots on Mattherson are terrible. It feels like every time I fly I'm instantly ganged up on by 6 mosquitos, 2 Dalton Libs, 4 Skyguards, and 12 Strikers, meanwhile anti-air is a foreign concept to us. I never see coordinated scythes, just randoms looking for cap points or easy transport. No one ever has my back. My outfit has tried coordinated flying but it always falls apart right away. I HATE this server for flying! No wonder we don't have any pilots! (oh and QRY doesn't help either)
