What would explain the plantar fascia itching? I don't mean topical, I mean a deep, internal itch in the heel that cannot be scratched!!! It drives me crazy, and I've noticed it only happens on my days off where I'm not walking as much. Is this a healing thing?

Breaking up scar issue with Graston massage helped me. Your information is valuable, I didn't know this. I was left laying on a couch unable to work, totally disable for almost a year. I know what it feels to have this painful, insidious illness. Padded shoes extra wide, a cane to walk, rest, exercises a few times a day, orthotics, Graston massage ( not sure if I misspelled it ), sometimes taking Advil, rolling my feet on bottle filled with icy water a few times a day for 10 minutes

+breadandcircus1 Hello! Scar tissue that is broken up with graston technique is scar tissue that develops in response to splint a joint. These are called cross link adhesions and they are made to help fix an injury, but they cause more problems because this form of scar tissue exists on the superficial layers of the muscle fascicle, which prevents the muscle from expanding at the belly, which causes a hinderance to contraction, which compromises circulation because the muscles are pumps for nutrient and waste exchange. Of course this will help, and this is when scar tissue is in places it should not be. Scar tissue can also develop around a nerve, or in places that are injured repeatedly. These instances can cause many problems. Scar tissue at the site of the injury is VERY good and very important. We need this scar tissue so that we can fix the problem. If you did not have scar tissue, nothing would heal. What we want is a healthy inflammatory response, which is made possible with a good diet, and enough scar tissue so that we can fix the injury. And yes, I know your frustration. I was in a wheel chair for 5 months at 19 years old and it drove me crazy. I totally understand.

+PlantarFasciitis SurvivalGuide So Graston technique to break up tissue is good? The massage is a bit painful the first days
@freeheelpainhelp
@freeheelpainhelp 8 жыл бұрын
+breadandcircus1 Yes it is good, but scar tissue is not the culprit. Graston takes care of an issue of excessive scar tissue growth in places it should not be. Scar tissue is needed to fix structural damage. And thank you!!! :)

Thank you for this! I wish I had discovered your channel earlier. My plantar fasciitis is taking so long to heal (it's been 4 months). I thought it was because I changed brands in my running shoes. But having watched this I believe it's to do with being slightly anemic, eating processed foods, and most likely being deficient in other nutrients. I am plant-based and probably am not eating enough of a varied diet.

Awesome video. Your videos are on my list of ones to watch to restore my foot after years of plantar fasciitis. I would rather avoid medical visits when they'll pretty much inject you with cortisone or charges you 100's of dollars for custom orthotics. I appreciate your knowledge and advice and willingness to share.

Hello so I was in a wreck and compound fractured my legs. I was in a coma for months and had really bad heel drop. My doctors didn't expect me to ever walk again, but when I finally did, I walked on my toes. I had to have double Achilles lengthening surgery to walk flat. If I am standing for even a short time, my heels hurt pretty bad. Could PF be the cause of the pain and if so how do I treat it? I had surgery in Novemver of 2014 and have been dealing with this ever since.

Your legs in that relaxed position over months and you calves shortened considerably. Wow. I had Achilles tendonitis and used Hydrocollator heat on the calves which allowed the stretch enough to help. Hope you are improving brother

I rarely take ibuprofen but I'll take it after a long week of work and chores just to get a break from pain. I feel like taken occasionally it helps with the whole process. Maybe it's the mental reward and motivation to move the foot with the relief . It is a tool that can help if used in great moderation I feel.

so if scar tissue's good why do we need to have it "broken up" with Graston?
@freeheelpainhelp
@freeheelpainhelp 8 жыл бұрын
because excessive scar tissue in certain places causes many problems. at the same time, scar tissue is needed to fix plantar fasciitis. it is good because it will fix your pain. it is bad because it can perpetuate the mechanical causes of plantar fasciitis

Okay i have had graston done and saw zero improvement. I am a total mess. I got this from running and I dont run anymore but some days I can hardly walk. I am 2 months from graduating nursing school and nothing at all seems to work and now has created post tib problems and achilles pain too. I was even immobilized in a cast and crutches over summer. I dont know what else to do. Are you familiar with shock wave therapy or PRP?
@freeheelpainhelp
@freeheelpainhelp 8 жыл бұрын
+Alicia Ortiz Shockwave can help. PRP is ok. Not a super big fan. Its a hit or miss. What you actually need is to see a structural bodywork therapist. Go to a rolfing expert or maybe an active release technique therapist. Something is causing these problems and you need someone to feel your muscles and see how you stand and walk to determine the cause.
@aliciaortiz3928
@aliciaortiz3928 8 жыл бұрын
+PlantarFasciitis SurvivalGuide I have gone to rolfing in the past but i will look into it again. The Shock wave is about 2200 with needed to go 3 times a week and PRP 1500 per injection. I am very skeptical but like I said I am desperate. I have had this for over 3 years now.

I know you focus on plantar fasciitis but you seem interested in mainly helping others where doctors usually don't, so I wanted to ask you if you wouldn't be interested in researching another issue targeting pregnant women. I understand you wouldn't be able to solve these issues since you would never be able to feel the pain yourself, but I suffered with what I self diagnosed (doctors had no idea) as symphysis pubis disfunction. It was excruciating pain I had to deal with from when I was 4 months pregnant up until 2 months after birthing my daughter. I couldn't walk for months and was bound to a wheelchair/bed rest. I still have lingering pain if I lay back flat and try to sit up. It is a sharp pain in the hip that makes me immediately want to stop moving in whatever direction that triggered it. I would be more than happy to assist in answering any questions you might have relating to this if you're up for it. :)

+Doodle Journey I have not researched that problem much. I would suggest finding an ostepath. After a quick google search, I have found quite a few exercises for this problem. The ligaments are lax, but it does not mean that you cannot strengthen the other stabilizing mechanisms around the joint. I can't see a way to reverse the joint laxity off the top of my head. Pelvic floor muscles can respond well to exercise for quite a few problems. Also, be sure your diet is perfect, as always. It is interesting how the problem arises though. Do you have other lax joints? I know that relaxin in the common cause, but it would be interesting if you have some other connective tissue disorder.
@sketchmarks5270

+PlantarFasciitis SurvivalGuide Well, the only other issue I really have is weak ankles (growing up I had a bad habit of "popping" them if they felt stiff) but this was my first experience with lax muscles. Yes I too believe relaxin was the culprit, but I know I'm not the only woman who had to suffer through this and not ONE doctor could help or even suggest anything except to push through it. I admire your ambitious attitude to figure out how to overcome persistent pain. You've inspired me to do more research on this and perhaps one day I'll write a book like you did in hopes of helping other women. :)

My husband has been having pain in his heels for the longest and he says the pain is not at the bottom of his feet but across the middle of the calcaneus at the back of his heel. I suppose it would be called achilles pain. Perhaps it is the tendon that is causing the pain?

+PlantarFasciitis SurvivalGuide Yes I thought this too. It's quite difficult for me to pinpoint what is causing his pain as there are several possibilities. I'll do more research on this.
