I recently got plantar Faciitis and I'm sure your well aware of how painful it is, so thank you for these videos. They really help me out, and now I know what qualities to look for when finding the type of shoes I should wear.

I have suffered with foot/ankle pain off and on for a long time. Because of that I have watch many, many youtube videos and read many, many articles on plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis. Your videos are more helpful than any of the medical/physician sites I've seen. You look like a high school student, but you are incredibly knowledgeable and a great teacher. Thanks! In the past I have bought the shoes you recommended and they have helped. Do you have a list of new, current minimal shoes out there (zero heel drop, wide toe box) for people that supinate?

First, thank you for putting so much time and effort on this channel, really good stuff man; so I get it shoes are bad, some are really bad, but what about when you have an event like a weding or an office job that requires you to wear formal classic shoes? are there any that you can wear? and what about winter? what kind of boots as well?; thanks again man, I've had so manny issues over time and my question is why did the so called doctors never really help me and I had to go on youtube and find accual relief for back pain, feet, and so on

Great videos my young brother! Damn I’ve be fighting some recent plantar fasciitis with my high arches so I purchased $50 scholls inserts! I have two New Balance minimalist shoes that I alternate during my work week but I thought my Sperry topsiders while walking caused my PFaciitis! Any thoughts??

What type of shoes would you recommend for a postman with plantar fasciitis who walks up to 10 miles a day?

and also what about working out? because I do some lifting and when I squat I have to use squat shoes, and their the exact opposite of what I need, they have an elevated heel, a flat and hard surface, but I only wear them for my squats

Can you make a video about Metatarsalgia? Would it eventually cause Plantar fasciitis if untreated?

Thank you for your excellent videos!. What do you think of starting running barefoot (like in Vibram KSO's) and specifically landing on front-foot.. and not the heels.? Would that strengthen the plantar? I've suffered 2 years of PF and considering to start barefoot. thanks

A1 - i did not have PF, but did have a mild case of PTT (posterior tibialis tendonitis). This put me on the barefoot track. I have just been running barefoot/ minimalist for a month and find the results very good. Feet and calves are already stronger and my entire running form has improved. Do check out the 10 part series by Steven Sashen from Xero barefoot about starting barefoot running.

I’ve been wearing brooks, main is still there comes and goes, should I just go to zero drop or is walking on grass barefoot good to? If so how long?

You said step 1 is to wear supportive shoes until heel pain is gone. But I’ve been wearing orthotics for years and it hasn’t helped. What can I do in order to get to step 2?

yes, this is the video that people need to be seeing. However do you have any advice for a more programmed approached to transitioning to minimalist shoes? At the bottom of this page www.barefootrunning.fas.harvard.edu/5BarefootRunning&TrainingTips.html they talk about starting off with a quarter mile and going for a certain amount of distance 3x a week every other day and then increasing the distance by 10% the next week. Do you think this is a good approach? I'm about to start it just by walking (I have no plans for running any time soon) on my treadmill while still doing mstr therapy in my free time.

Great article. Would work great for people who have no history of plantar fasciitis. Great for runners making the progression to minimal shoes and forefoot striking. I am not a big fan of using specific distances or percentages of increase. The best way to progress is to go by feel. The article did mention that, but it is very important. Progression can vary person to person. If you have a great diet and have been athletic for years, then you can progress faster. If you sit in a desk all day, and have a bad diet, then the progression can take a long time. It is best just to listen to your body and work slowly to specific goals.

I'd not wear minimal shoes after my plantar fasciitis is gone. I KNOW that by having no heel support, no cushioning the inflammation and pain would return quickly. I don't want to make experiments with my painful foot

Yes I understand. The minimal shoes will make the pain worse. That is why you should slowly and progressively work towards less support. This can take years for some. It has taken me about 1.5 years to be able to wear minimal shoes. I did have some on and off pain, but now my feet are much stronger. The secret is to go slow :)
