When I first discovered Dr. Goldhamer a few years ago, I thought his approach was way too restrictive, now years later he is my Hero and I feel so much better eating SOS Free and avoiding Flour and Alcohol. I also love and appreciate his no BS approach and honest talk about what will kill us and make us Fat, Sick and Miserable! Thanks Gustavo for this awesome interview! :)

You are a kind and compassionate person Gustavo and I love your personality. So great question about how a people pleaser can overcome this quality in mixed groups.

I know that this was Dr Goldhamer's usual talking points, but I found this interview with him to be better than average, maybe because he acknowledged the difficulties of changing but then demonstrated the simplicity of it. Thank you.

Excellent! so right on. I say the last six months I've gained weight it's only around my belly and I've been over eating tahini and definitely hot sauces and salt so this was incredible and to understand more conscious of what is bringing stress into my life and minimizing that or cutting it out. I called Dr. Goldhamer maybe 10 years ago I can't remember and I couldn't bring myself to eat anything green and had great talk with him. thank you for bringing such a wonderful powerful interview to us

7:04 Yes we ALL know how our friends and family are 99% of "a different mind" when it comes to health. LUCKILY for them (and my sanity) I have had several folks give it a try and one of those wasn't a personal friend but someone I only knew from shared interests. He and his wife are much healthier and happier now! All of them were feeling better right away and some stuck to it. Two regressed and are, of course, sick or headed that way. Also when our "normal" friends get sick (as they do) sometimes they come to us to LEARN MORE about the "nonsense" we've been living for years. Sometimes they are even motivated enough (by the fear of life-long Rx treatment$) to listen after they've been warned or diagnosed by a regular, non-nutritional MD.

Where I’m confused is Dr McDougal says eating a small amount of salt n sugar daily is okay to stay on track

Are you addicted to these things?? A small amount is probably negligible, just like Dr. Goldhamer's best friend Dr. Lisle will have vegan cake every once in a while. But if you're struggling to maintain weight or arguing with yourself, I think it's best not to continue to torture yourself and just leave it alone.

@@MaynardsSpaceship Well 10 years ago I discovered this way of eating but it’s been very much one step closer two steps back All my family eat these foods so it’s an upstream battle every day , as he said only 90percent succeed and that’s disappointing but I’ll keep going on On a more positive note, I’m 71 and 10 years ago when I made this change although it’s only about 70 percent , I had terrible pain and was overweight still I lost weight, I’m only on 2 medications for cholesterol n blood pressure just 5mm , I only take them every 3rd day,I’m quite active, I’ve way less pain but I don’t know if I’ll ever get fully there As I’m a woman I’m definitely a people pleaser

@@claresmith9261 Dr McDougall isn't at odds with Goldhamer's approach about what you should be eating, only in how important it is to fast or when you do it. He does say you can sprinkle a pinch of salt or sugar on your steamed potatoes if that's what you need to eat them without oil other form of added fat. Dr Goldhamer's approach with elimination of Salt, Oil, and Sugar is going to do more faster, McDougall is mainly pitching to people who are health-conscious adults looking to build a lifetime of healthier habits by getting them off the Standard American Diet. It seems like someone your age would do better to try and adopt Goldhamer's recommendation about what to eat.

If you have high blood sugar, eat no sugar or anything like honey, maple syrups, or agave. If you have high blood pressure, eat no salt and no oil. Two simple rules. If you want to never get diabetes and high blood pressure, eat no salt, no refined oil or fats, and no sugar. Simple. Now you know why Esselstein and Goldhammer says this. MCdougal is not as strict. He it hoping you are healthy to start with. If you presented with diabetes and or high blood pressure, he would say the same as Esselstein & Goldhammer.

At 40 minutes he outright says that when you stop eating carbs, there is a hunger BLUNTING EFFECT. So, his fasting and salt protocol goes up to forty days without eating ANY carbs, grains, fruits ,or veggies! So, you survive by burning your own body fat stores. That works BECAUSE your body is supposed to burn fat ,not glucose predominantly! And then he says that he is breaking you from the " bad habit" of eating fats and proteins from animal based foods. So, he changes your eating habits, and then puts you back to eating the HUNGER INDUCING FOODS, carbs .grsins, fruits and veggies, which ALL break down immediately into glucose, overloading you with way more than the five grams of glucose that your liver produces, from fat cells, to fuel your body. So, if you can survive forty days without carbs, tell me , how essential can they be???

And elevated glucose spikes insulin, which also induces fat storage, meanwhile, that excess glucose is inflaming every cell in your body, its EXCESS! So, you are pre diabetes for 15 years until your pancreas can no longer increase more insulin, AND NOW YOU ARE T 2 DIABETIC, SURPRISE! SURPRISE! There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate!

Gustavo por favor no digas “no soy un doctor de medicina,” con esa desilusión. I would rather be your type of doctor than a medical doctor. In fact, I would be ashamed to be a medical doctor in these times. I have a question for you: do you eat any salt in any form or shape? Because SOS free IS sugar oil salt free, yet a lot of people who claim to be SOS free still consume soy sauce, et cetera, that means NO SALT, right? I can see Dr. G has lost his graciousness and is now a cringe to watch. I mean I don’t blame him. But gosh this interview is hilariously ridiculous.
