Yes, i do mostly container gardening at age 65. My next challenge is my grass. Its filled with violets, which some find pretty, but i love lush grass. I did have an above ground pool in the back yard that is now gone as is the wonderful deck that was built around it. My sons worked and worked and got it out but under the pool was a large (15x30) layer of sand that needs some soil on top to grow nice grass. Im just taking it in stages. This year while planting my pots, i noticed a large number of carpenter bees but haven't found a nest. In previous years they put a hole in my picnic bench. I dont want them attacking my deck. In the next few weeks i have a new shed, a new fence, and a retaining wall going in so right now theres alot on my plate. I planted plants around my shed last year without thinking that would make the rotting worse so maybe next year ill build boxes. Anyway, thats my simple gardening. Im 4 blocks from the water in Maryland. It used to be a lovely yard but years of no time from working, raising 4 kids, spending weekends at sporting events or dance events let the yard get out of hand. Im trying to get it back. Last year I planted mini skirt hostas, lilys of the valley, and peonies. They all came back this year along with 3 other plants I didnt keep the labels for. I have one gardenia bush and another hydrangea to put in the ground but this weekend and next i really hope to assemble my greenstalk and plant strawberries, mint, and jalapeños. My son is growing tomatoes but not in. The greenstalk. i also Have bee balm seeds, wild flower seeds, and cleome seeds. And finally, i nipped trumpet flower pods from the lady I care fors neighbor and im going to see if i can grow them. Thats it from Annapolis Maryland⚘️🏵🌸

Kid's play area is going to look amazing. How about decorating the play house with flower boxes? Maybe add a small covered picnic area, cute benches for the kids and their own little gardening area where they can grow their own plants? Lots of peonies and hydrangeas and canopy trees and flower planters. And of course a sandbox with a lid so that the cats can't into them. A path around the play area so they can bicycle and have fun. Love how Benjamin and Samatha love helping you in garden. They learn so much about your garden and retain all the knowledge you are teaching them. I remember babysitting my twin grandsons and every summer as soon as I’d start digging in the garden they’d have their little noses in the holes I was digging looking for worms or the rolly roly polys. They called worms squirmy wormies and announced each find they made. It kept them busy for hours, and we all had lots of fun. 😍 😍

I feel for you Laura! It is hard to see your precious plants be damaged! ❤ I have the same problem in the south of Sweden. Days are warm and then suddenly you have frost or a real freeze during the night/early hours in the morning. Horrible for all your plants! One year it looked like someone had a big Bunsen burner and burned the whole garden, everything was brown. So all buds were destroied! Everything came back nothing died but the wisteria and everything else early flowering did not flower that year 😢

Laura, I just planted a gallon sized Flamingo Dappled Willow that my nursery had given up on and sold to me for next to nothing. I can understand why they don't have time to nurse plants back to health....but I've gotten so many beautiful plants that just needed a trim and most of all water. Wow, what happens to them after a little TLC! That willow was originally a high $$$ plant that I would have passed by, but at it's knocked down price I have a beautiful, large bush to grace my yard. I also got a couple of Bog Rosemary plants....have never heard of them, but they're supposed to have outstanding blossoms and trailing growth habit. I can't wait to see how it develops. I get some beautiful surprises this way. I'm taking your idea of "planting high". Seems to be working well. I love all of your tips. You are my go-to channel with a cup of coffee, no matter the weather outside. I always find inspiration whether you bring us out to one of the gardens, on a field trip or a trip to the nursery, there's always something new to see and learn. Thanks for all the knowledge and fun of you channel.

Good morning! The Hebee statue looks so much better when the Willow is trimmed up! I would have raised up the back of the tree too though! So many pretty plants to see. Loved Samantha kissing the statue, so cute! Is Cheddar still around haven’t really seen him recently?

As beautiful as you are Laura, you digging a hole doesn't hold a candle to Samantha kissing the statue. So so cute!

Samantha kissing the statue! 🥰 So sweet! Question! Does Paul run individual emitters through the Veronica (or ground-covers in general) or just the drip tube weaved through? I’d love to see his process sometime! 😊

Laura-love the blonde streaks. Kids are growing up so darn fast and now Samantha’s out there helping. Bet Benjamin’s helping her along too!

2:25 Slight slip of the tongue for the groundcover hardiness: ZONE 3 is hardy to -40. I live in MN Zone 4 hardy to -30. I've memorized my zone from Laura giving hardiness stats.👍Knowing one's zone comes in handy when shopping for plants. 🪴I LOVE Penstemon! I'm growing some from seed this year. We'll see how it goes. LOVE the Buddleia, too. Good golly, Miss Molly! It's so cool when you find the perfect spot for a plant or shrub. Thanks for the transplant updates. It reaffirms that plants can easily survive and thrive when moved from one part of the garden to another.

So many things about this video that I love! The gorgeous butterfly bushes , the penstemon, and of course, Samantha , kissing the little statue! This may be off the subject, but we haven’t been seeing Cheddar in recent videos. Just wondering if he is okay or just MIA, doing his own thing?

Someone commented on the tour video that they knew the family and that killed him. I don’t know if it’s true or not.

@@fancypinkg that’s so sad. The cat that protected the property gets killed. I hope not, but I worried about that from a few videos ago. That just goes against everything this channel stands for. Or does it?

They didn’t kill Cheddar! Cmon, they would never do that. He’s always been less social than Russell and now Douglas.
@sivlow264

@@pamelayoung1194 do you know that for a fact? Or are you like the rest of us, thinking that because we would never in a million years kill a family member because he sprayed to protect the property. I can’t help that they are not how they portray themself. This is a business , they make lots of money making videos. But watching a video a little while ago where Aron displayed how he was disgusted with the fact that Cheddar sprayed, and that he wanted to get rid of him. Then on the next video, Laura confirms that it was disgusting, makes me wonder. And now we don’t see Cheddar. It makes me 😞

@@sivlow264 No, I don’t know it for a fact. I do think that Laura and Aaron are the good people that they have always shown us to be. I wouldn’t want a cat spraying on or by my house and I don’t think anyone would. I would find it disgusting too. We will just have to wait and see if they comment on Cheddar. Have a good day
