I was pleasantly surprised to see dianthus come back this spring! I planted it like it was an annual last year. Nice to save a few bucks this spring🙌 just found your channel and live in mid michigan too!

My dianthus died out in the middle over the winter. I'm Zone 5b. They have lasted about 4 years. Would that be a normal life span for these plants?

I would say no. Mine are about 10 years old and they are still going. I am in Zone 5b as well. It is hard to figure out why they died. Could be a variety of things. They do need mulch. soil maybe too wet. I have clay soil also and very high winds. Mulch is must for me.
