Nice to see you've been practicing. It's looking good mate. Definite improvement from the yellow one. When burnishing start off lightly and gradually get firmer as the plaster sets more. Don't try and fully burnish a section all at once. So start burnishing it lightly, and don't keep going over and over and over it, that causes tearing and flaking. Then move onto the next section, lay it on then go back to the first section you done and burnish it a bit more. It would've dried out a bit more by now and less likely to tear when you burnish it. Get yourself another trowel. Slightly larger than the one you're using. Either 240mm or 280mm and use it for laying on only and use that smaller one just for burnishing. If you want to eradicate most of the lines apply the plaster wet to dry and not dry to wet. Hope this helps. Polished plaster is so difficult to master. Timing is key. Keep up the good work

Blaine, you are amazing and self motivated. I used to be Venetian Plasterer. Moved away from it and will never be back to it. My advice is to stay away from it as most of it's customers are pickys. A lot of timing wasting trying to figure out what the clients want and sometimes they change their mind. The last job I had last year, the client changed the colour 4 times after seeing the samples. That day I gave away my tools.

Well done. I use a medium marmirno for the base coat then 3 coats of fine on top. The best method I found is do small fan like motions from left to right dry to wet. The last coat must be very tight so will dry instantly. Then bernish 1sqm at a time in the same fan motions to start then up and down etc. Hope this helps.

Blaine, really enjoy your channel. I’m a drylining by trade and really wanted to learn plastering with watching your channel I recently decided to book myself on a plastering course and can’t wait to give it a go on my own soon. What are you practicing the Venetian Plaster on? Plasterboard? Then do you have to skim over or can it be tape and jointed?
@thomascairnduff5751

sometimes from my little experience the peeling can be when you are burnishing you can see different colours as some sections are still wet and if you go over polishing a wet bit it peels away. grab a heat gun or hair dryer and when you are wanting to burnish hit it with that at the same time and you will see better results :)

Good going for second attempt!! That product does peel easily! Burnish very lightly to start off with then build up pressure as it dries to avoid peeling! Try there product ‘Luciano’ if your struggling with peeling, it’s acrylic based and is much less prone peeling!

Thanks mate, I really appreciate that!! Arrr ok that’s good to know - maybe I’m pushing too hard initially! I’ve seen the Luciano and I’m going to try it once I’m comfortable with this one. Thank you for the advice by the way. I really appreciate it because I’m obviously learning and I need all the help I can get. Cheers pal!!

Blaine do you have any videos on dealing with plastering ceilings which have the curved coving ? I did a ceiling yesterday and the edges of the Coving had plaster on, it dried so was hard to remove in areas. You can tape the whole Edge as it would rip the plaster off when removing? Also, waste! What do you do with all the plaster waste water !? Sink? Street drains ?
@PlasteringForBeginners
@PlasteringForBeginners 2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate! It’s good practice to take the edges out simply write the plaster off whilst it’s still drying. But if you’re starting it then taping the edges of probably best. As for waste, there’s no real answer! You shouldn’t throw it down the drains so sometimes the best bet is the garden! It’s a tough one to be honest 👍

What`s up with that ??? looks the mutts nuts to me mate, everything`s a learning curve, ive been a kitchen fitter for 38 years and i`m still learning, thanks to your tutorials ive just plastered me sons new house, finally evicted the fker after 26 years lol, needed lounge and dining room skimming so coz i did it back in me late teens early 20`s, i`m 53 now, i had a go, watched your vide to refresh my doddery old brain and the walls turned out mint, dead smooth, took paint real well, life`s about learning mate and mastering skills and you`re doing great, take care.
