Right there with you. Keyboard commandos who fear a loaded gun in a YT video are simple and weak. A trained professional, like John, or a properly trained individual who knows how to follow the 4 cardinal rules should not be pressured by internet trolls to maintain an unloaded gun during a video. It is up to the subject to determine if the video is best shot with an unloaded gun, while demo'ing a training exercise for instance, versus carrying a gun in a holster on camera. Mine stay loaded 100% of the time. I even posted a vid once showing the contents of my EDC bag, and made sure to mention that the gun I pulled out WAS loaded and was going to stay that way. I'm sure some mall ninjas cringed.

Something i would absolutely love to see you visit more in depth is the whole ham radio/comms situation. I feel like one of the most underappreciated aspects of preparedness is communication, specifically confidential communication with your team. However it is a very overwhelming topic to approach, and a lot of the readily available information is almost completely inaccessible to the layman. The idea of "encrypted" communication in the field would be a great end game in approaching the concept, and while alot of viewers may not be to interested in it, i feel like more than a few would immensely benefit from any knowledge you could share, or even just a nudge in that direction. The video you have already done was a great intro to it, but honestly it just brought up more questions for me than it answered.

Go to a site called QRZ.com. Navigate around it and you will learn how to become an amateur radio operator. Amateur doesn't mean beginner in this context. It just means not a paid professional. The site will tell you how to study, give you practice tests that are current, and teach you theory on two way radio concepts. I am an Extra class operator and even own my own repeater several hundred feet in the air. I can take a portable radio and travel 30 miles away in one direction and talk to someone 20 to 30 miles away on the other side of the repeater. Mobile radios can go around 50 miles. The QRZ site will start you on the path for every single thing you will ever need to know because it will link you to other places of expertise. You only take the test once, for about $16. You have to renew once every 10 years for about a $10 fee. The radios are not expensive either. Hope this helps.

If you're gonna freak on whether or not a gun is loaded, maybe you should let somebody else carry it. If you don't trust yourself, don't be armed. If you can't trust your friends, find new friends. Strong pinkey, strong mind ? Either way, the carrier looks to solve a few challenges, especially the cut for buttstock placement. The biggest hurdle is the weight and the only way to deal with it is to buff up. I even mow the grass in mine. Don't laugh, even though my useless neighbors are totally baffled by it. Can't wait for LE to be called out. When they ask, just say crossfit training, because that's what it is.

TQ is the only piece of kit I will never scoff at in high numbers on one's person. The day that someone makes ballistic protection pack comprised almost entirely of tourniquets shall be a one to remember. (Obviously joking: however, one could envision an interwoven panel of Aramid or synethic TQs arranged in such a manner to be of some ballistic benefit)

John, a little trick I figured out, if you run a piece of paracord over the top of your back pack and connect it on both sides to the zipper pulls, you can grab the cord over your shoulder, pull up on the zippers and get your pack off for emergency access to it while still wearing the vest.

I’ve worn a few different carriers, and I agree with you. Large, cushy shoulder pads doesn’t make the carrier feel comfortable. It’s where they rest on your shoulders. I really like the Velocity Systems carriers, the shoulder straps sit closer to the neck, and the thin but gel like pads are really comfortable. The First Spear Strandhögg can bear a lot of stuff which equals weight, but you can’t tell because of how comfortable it is, and it doesn’t slide down when running a ballistic shield on a Wedge-it with a carabiner.

The "why do you need that as a civilian?" is a legitimate question and tbh it's annoying that you deflect it by saying "I do what I want; get off my case". As a viewer, I was genuinely curious as to what the civilian use case would be for that stuff. When to use it, why you'd want it or why you wouldn't, etc. The whole "it's a free country so I can buy what I want" shtick is juvenile and it sucks when I'm looking through KZbin videos to learn more about the application of these tools and instead you just tell me to fuck off.
