This is a superb demonstration of Carlsens technique. Always on top, ground out a victory. I think he is now surpassing Karpov in strangling his opponents. I was a doubter before the World Championship, my faith in him is fully restored. In the medium term i see Ding being his strongest opponent.

In this tournament we saw the "old" Carlsen. He played like an engine. I think many other players would not be able to win this game. Very impressive and precise play by the champ. Oil tanker - very good metaphor by the way.

This is how Carlsen usually wins, equlish or slightly better endgames he knows how to convert against most GM's.

I watched the game and was impressed how Magnus took a position where his pieces were passive to one where they were ideally placed. I thought I need to watch this video to learn more.

Such a hard game to win, but where there is an edge in an endgame Carlsen seems to win. This was such a patient game that shows how great Carlsen is and I'm not sure anyone else could have won this.

@@pierolocatelli8037 I've seen many of Kasparov games could be half plus. I don't want to see all his games anyway. I still can't say Kasparov style is boring meaning playing very controlling game looking for very slight advantage in the end game. even Magnus and Karpov have aggressive games where they take risks, sacrifices.... They're able to play that style but it's not the thing that defines them. Piero Locatelli Who are you

Great vid as usual Dan. I had a game in Scarborough where I was losing and forced my opponent into Bishop and Knight vs King. Luckily he did not know the technique... Phew!

Thanks Daniel. Seems to me Carlsen just tires opponents out with his relentless mental focus. He plays on when many would just draw because he knows he can outlast them and punish the first inaccurate move. What a maestro.

It seems to me that Duda hoped for some tactics with two rooks. In my (humble) opinion, with the pawn majority in the center and pawns spread on both side, in the long run, the only logical solution should be to trade a pair of rooks with Rdd2.

I used to hustle chess in Toronto (chess tables outside Sam the Record Man - alas now gone) and one of my propositions was giving time odds of 5 minutes to 2 and draw odds, and taking the material advantage of the Bishop and Knight vs. King, and truth to tell I'm not a very good player so... yeah, I think Carlsen had this one covered, but good joke, Daniel.

Just a preliminary comment -- very difficult endgame for 'average' players (maybe anyone below Grandmaster?) to understand. But I would question where did Black go wrong? Daniel does not seem to be pinpointing a failed strategy or move by Duda; was it wrong for Black to advance his pawns so aggressively? Even the engines don't seem to be of much help. Worth a lot of study.

@@mobilegamers1tv638 With all due respect, it's not that easy. I don't get the impression from Daniel's presentation that he considered it clear cut, hence we are obligated to see where Black could have improved his chances to draw. For example, in his coverage of the game Svidler suggested that Black could have traded a pair of rooks early, (around move 28) to ease the defense. Svidler also mentioned that Sesse found possible drawing lines.

Analyze it deeply and get back to us. At this level extreme subtleties win the position, and usually they are human subtleties like preferences and comfort. Engines won't help too much
@johnkom2339
@johnkom2339 5 жыл бұрын
@@chrisiver8506 Okay I did have a chance to get back to Svidler's video, where he fingers Magnus' 43 Kc3 as inaccurate. He gives the line 43 Kc3 Rd5! 44 Bc2 Rbd8 and claims that now the Rooks can enter d2, e.g. 45 a5 Rd2 46 Nf4 46 Rf2! The engines seem to concur since White has now only a small plus. Wow, can learn a lot from analyzing it.
