Thanks for the reaction. My husband, Peter Beckett, who wrote and sang this song, is also from England. Daryl Hall told him once that Baby Come Back was one of Hall & Oates most requested songs even though they had nothing to do with it :)

That song is a classic..still. The end of the song "HOW'S YOUR LIFE BEEN GOING ON? GOTTA WIFE NOW, YEARS WE BEEN STRONG. THERES JUST SOMETHING THAT I GOT TO SAY, SOMETIMES WHEN WE MAKE 💘 LOVE, I CAN STILL SEE YOUR FACE...I thought I was the only one! This song is haunting about loss of your true love , even if you have to move on.

Back in the mid to late 70's there were more than a few tunes like this. I remember this being on the radio, and it was popular and sold really well, but nobody I knew thought it was that big of a deal because there was so much great music being made at that time. Back then the radio was actually worth listening to even with all the commercials. Maybe I missed it somehow, but I don't remember Player ever having another song that got much radio play. If you haven't already, you might want to check out The Brothers Johnson. They were on the radio in the late 70's as well. I suggest a tune called "Strawberry Letter 23."

On the sound, in the intro, I agree, it does sound like Hall & Oats. I think the whole song reminds me of The Eagles and Bee Gees as well due to 2 factors; the lyrics are complex, but they're delivered in a simple and direct manner and those 2 things were definitely found a lot in The Eagles and Bee Gees (i.e. Lying Eyes and How Deep is Your Love).
