I don’t even play cEDH, but I LOVE watching playing with power. This is so awesome. Awesome you had the Dr. that ran the numbers on competitive decks, too! Good to see him on the show. Cool to finally see Ryan play too! I like this format a little more too where we can see everyone and hear everyone’s reactions. I still love Ryan’s narrations though.

Interesting question. I think it's a very in between question mostly because Black clearly is a more supportive colour in the mutli-coloured commander decks but without it, most of those decks lose the ability to tutor and have the most cost efficient win con in the format (Thoracle). I think Red at this point is the most sought after, even more so than Blue just because Dockside and Breach are such obscenely strong cards, and blue being the sovereign of counterspells can't be understated at all. Black is comfortably either second or third most important depending on who you talk to. The forbidden tutors are such insanely strong cards that I can't recall a time I have ever been annoyed when top decking or opening with one of them.

Basalt monolith with kinan and thrasios ends the game anyway. There is literally no way to fizzle of it resolves because you just draw your entire deck with trashios

I love this new setup, very enjoyable. One thing I have trouble with is the change in angle when switching from boardstate to face cam. It's switched so to say. Top left on the face cam is bottom left on the table. I think if you would rotate the table cam 180° it should be fine. A weird issue maybe but it seems off compared to other content producers.

Absolutely wonderful video, one suggestion though! Maybe it's just me, but the table doesn't match the seating arrangement. To me, it feels like the sides should be swapped. Every time the camera panned to the players I got them mixed up compared to the table view. Keep up the great work though!
@dylansabin9828 Жыл бұрын
Cuts between players/table seemed a lot cleaner and less frenetic this episode, but the wiggling card highlights for every card still strikes me as movement for movement's sake. When something like Flusterstorm/Dockside ETB pops up, those big interaction moments, I think that makes them pop even more, but that's just my take. Sharp improvement over the first episode!

I was almost oblivious to this video just passing me by. When a "premier" is announced so far in advance, youtube doesn't move it UP in my subscription feed when it is ACTUALLY released. If I have 4-5 other videos in my feed that have been released that same day, I don't see it at all. I gave my feed a quick glance today, saw nothing of interest and moved on. It wasn't until I checked my notifications (cause I clicked the bell) that I noticed the video was finally released. Just wanna warn in the future that while the premier thing is cool and all, it actually does have potential downsides of people just MISSING the video release.

If I was in the Najeela players position I would not have casted Mindbreak trap on the Basalt Monolith. I lose either way and there is zero point to king making the Tymna Kraum. Alsooo he could have cast mindbreak for it's alternate cost, so he could have maybe played a second spell.

I generally think in cEDH it goes B, U, R, W, G for power level, but the last three are kind of all over the place compared to the first two. Blue's thing is that it's got an almost complete monopoly on stack interaction, but Black is good at a ton of important stuff, including being the best big draw and tutor colours, combined with access to the best Rituals in the game make it both fast and consistent.

@jean-paulbascelli1078 Жыл бұрын
Black is ridiculously powerful. You are losing a lot of power and consistency, not to mention disruption and forbidden tutors that combo with Thoracle. You also lose reanimation effects, Ad Nauseum, Peer into the Abyss as win cons. No generic Tutors. No black Rituals. No Tymna. No way I will play without Black magic cards because the benefit outweighs whatever cost you pay short term.
@Zaalbarjedi Жыл бұрын
I don't really understand why Mike trapped Basalt Monolith there. Ryan was clearly representing a win with Thoracle next turn, and with nobody having any ways to stop that countering Monolith was just plain kingmaking.

Yeah, the best color in cEDH imo is blue. Black provides heavy tutors and mana ramp, but that's its main role. Blue acts as a massive tempo color which allows for countering wins while powering out card draw for your own.
@dasfabelwesen Жыл бұрын
I am not a big fan on countering a remora on turn 1 if it is not a huge mana start from that opponent. Lets say it is why they kept the hand and they force back. You now killed 2 counterspells for one draw engine and are probably loosing the game to whoever had to spend nothing on all of this.

You clearly haven't played or seen enough cEDH. Thoracle is very efficient and dominant, yeah, but that's not cEDH alone.
@leonardoherrera8908 Жыл бұрын
@@nicholas8739 I've seen enough to know you're right, and I've also seen enough games where it takes the least resources, skill, and strategy to pull off. If Coalition Victory is banned for being an instant win with more restrictions at 8 mana (including all 5 colors), then Thoracle should be banned for having almost no restrictions and 2 mana of one color. Such a boring, lame card that is beyond broken.
