I'm pretty sure when you activate ragavan's dash ability , you still need to pay commander tax, since you're still "casting" ragavan. not a big deal tho.

Yeah, you're correct. Dash is an alternate casting cost not an activated ability like Derevi or Yuriko so tax applies.

If you Dash from the command zone, yes. But, once it's returned to your hand, normal costs apply, so you can Dash for only 1R again. I think that's what makes Ragavan viable, since you technically only have to cast it once from the command zone and it'll just pop back to your hand over and over.

The dash cost of Monkey is an alternative cost, while the "commander tax" is an additional cost. You simply add them together for the total cost of casting your commander.

I've learned ONE thing about Yusri. In order to negate the self-inflicted wounds, Shadowspear and Basilisk Collar are almost necessary. Whether it is the 'right" play or not is purely academic. My firm belief is not dying to your own strategy is more important than adding a couple more 'win more' cards.

Yeah I built a slightly less powerful version that was maybe like an 8/10 of ten just bordering on cedh. And I found quickly a little life gain can help me out a lot. I want to run more proactive cards but finding myself at 20 life on turn 4 was just not an option

I used to have a deck, back when commander was still new, that had card effects along the lines of 'draw X card, and gain X/Y life' where X is cards drawn, or Y is the converted mana cost of the cards you drew. The whole strategy was basically 'become immortal, let the other 3 dish it out, face off with the last one'. Want to try and do that with Ragavan. Since i used to have a permanent enchantment card with the effect of 'pay 1, untap target creature, that creature may attack again this turn'. For a total mana cost of 4 colorless, 2 red, i could effectively end the game with the right starting hand, on the 4th turn. Sooner, if i stack my deck double mana land cards. Have a Red/White double mana land, tap, dash Ragavan from the command zone, attack, treasure token, return to hand, next turn, tap, dash, attack, treasure, and 3rd turn, dash, play enchant, tap, attack, pay 1 treasure, untap, tap, attack, pay 1 mana etc... Sadly the only card i know of that has that effect,is no longer legal. Unlike another similar card that adds another combat phase, this one simply allowed you to attack by untapping 1 creature during your combat phase.

Spoilers: I honestly think Cam should have attacked with Yusri around 8:50 and flipped five coins. You're on 3 life, you' just had your win stopped, you're probably not going to survive another rotation of the table, and you have the thumb, I think your best option there was to go for the shot at 5 heads to get the omniscience effect, and you might have won from there. In any case, it was a lot of fun to see the Izzet Ad Nauseum.

I think Breeches should be pronounced like “breaches”. Breech usually refers to a part of a cannon, which fits his pirate type. Breech can also mean “butt”, which fits his goblin type.

Fun fact according to the ruling on Gatherer, If you control multiple copies of Krark's Thumb, each replacement effect stacks on top of each other meaning the first one would give you two the second one would give you two sets of two the third thumb would give you four sets of two etc. Now I really just want to see a stack of them

I’d love to see a cEDH Windgrace deck list tbh. I made a pretty fast one myself, consistent wins on turn 4 if left untouched Turn 1-3 were reliant on draws (but I also don’t have a lot of the artifact ramp) Plus, worldgorger + Altar of the brood = ez dub

13:00 ish the DASH requires that commander tax leaving the command zone, and BLOOD MOON does in fact shut down Prismatic Vista's ability to tap, sac, search for basic land activated ability because it's not a basic land and would effectively be a MOUNTAIN that can tap for a red mana.

I wonder if Yursi decks should run lifelink effects like Basilisk Collar, Shadowspear and Witch's Clinic. 2 Mana to not lose the game. I'd run any of those over Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind any day or at the very least Psychosis Crawler if I want that effect. 1 extra mana to maybe tap it for a draw seems not the best. Not sure if back to basics is a good choice either.

@@geoffreygarfein9169 normally control decks rise up to beat combo, and Aggro decks rise up to beat control, and midrange decks rise up to beat Aggro, but traditionally lose to control and combo. And thus completes the circle of life.

@@rexone9564 though this holds true to most formats, I feel (looking at the meta as it stands) I'm seeing a lot more Slow Combo/Control (this is what I mean by midrange) rising up to face the Farm decks. I play Winota because stax seems to be really good and I feel that I have a chance at any table. My play group has noticed this trend as well.
