My 21 RAV4 prime has about twice the horsepower in EV mode than what the new Tucson PHEV has. I mostly drive in EV mode so that’s important to me. The screen and controls seem like a big improvement.

Thank u for the information. The horse power specs can be confusing for us consumers. It would help if you can you mention specific horse power of ev mode, gasoline mode for both Tucson and Rav 2024 and if you know of 2025?

@@Stream-t8g The Tucson has an engine with 178 hp and a motor with 97 hp for a total of 268 hp and 271 lb-ft. Engine and motor hp in a PHEV never add up to the sum of the two numbers. The Prime has an Engine with 177 hp and two motors, one in the front with 179 hp and one in the back with 53 hp for a total of 302 hp. In electric cars the motors do add up so the so in EV mode you have up to 232 hp, but I’ve never found numbers listed for the prime so conservatively I’d say at least 200 hp. Around town I’m guessing the 97 hp of the Tucson is probably great, it’s probably on the freeway that you will notice it. The Prime does just fine on the freeway in EV mode in situations that I’m guessing the Tucson would need to turn on the engine for extra hp. Removing the numbers I’m sure lots of people would prefer the normal transmission of the Tucson and the normal mechanical AWD. But this might be why Toyota is able to put un an 18.1 kW battery and the Tucson has 13.8kW. Toyota EV range is 42 miles and the EV range of the Tucson is 32 miles. I think they are both good, the Prime is just better for my priorities.

The old interior was designed for the car. The new interior is cheap, ugly, and shoehorned in.

Making judgements without actually seeing the car is just wrong. I've seen it and driven it and it's really nicely finished inside.

Disagree. I have examined both. Those old capacitive switches were awful. The new interface is well designed, fast and easy to use.
