Plug & Pay - Charging Your Taycan On The Road

Would have been nice to see how to use the app for the payment rather than just a card.

1.6 miles a minute. - this honestly fills me with dread. I have a 2022 porsche taycan cross turismo amd a tesla 3. On longer journeys over 200 miles return I take the Model 3 as I can’t get my head around the porsche charging complexity, slowness and cost. How has the network been created in such a messy way: porsche card for some, debit card for others, app for others… nuts. I love the car but not the charging experience. Tesla on the other have the network sussed. We did UK to scotalnd, then Cornwall, also Hampshire to Switzerland and all around Switzerland with a roof box and skis - charging peaked at 1150 miles an hour / nearly 20 miles a minute. In fact it was too quick sometimes as we finished charging before the kids had been to the toilet or we got a coffee. Please correct me if I am wrong on the Porsche - I have only had it a month and so it could be my lack of investment of time to research the network.

Hey, Thank you for your comment, hopefully I can help to clear this up for you and get you enjoying your Taycan more. The charge station used in this video only has an output of 50kW, so the maximum charge it can deliver is 2.5 miles per minute. As the battery was already above 80% capacity, the charge speed is slowed to preserve battery life which is why it was only getting 1.6 miles per minute. The Taycan can actually take up to 270kW through a DC supercharger which will deliver up to 13.4 miles per minute! You can find chargers capable of that speed through the Nav in the Taycan or by searching on the My Porsche app. A couple of tips to help get that maximum speed. To get the maximum charge speed, the battery in the car must have a low state of charge, around 15-30% will give the maximum. And it must also be preconditioned (at the right temperature) to accept the highest charge speed possible. To precondition the battery, all you need to do is put the charge destination in the Nav, to let the car know where you are going to charge. The car will then get the battery to the right temperature for your arrival time at the charger. I hope that helps clarify some of the questions you are having. Where can I use the porsche charging card? I thought Ionity was one of the chargers where you could

Hi, The card can be used at all charge stations which are part of the Porsche Charging Service. You can check which ones these are by using the My Porsche app (all chargers shown are on the service) or by selecting the Porsche Charging Service filter in your Taycan’s Nav. The Ionity chargers are certainly included and actually offer preferential rates for customers on the Porsche Charging service. I thought Ionity chargers supported Plug and Charge, where the car's identifier is used to authenticate charging without needing an RFID card or bank card.

Hello Raboox9, When the video was made Plug and Charge was comming soon for Ionity chargers, on the latest vehicles when the service is activated in the vehicle customers should be able to use it, however its always good to have a backup plan, the QR code scanning also works for alot of chargers that are supported under the Porsche Charging Service, we have also planned to do a new video as there has been some changes with the authentication and the apps to use. @@PorscheCentreChester Thanks for the update. In other parts of the world, Plug & Charge or ISO 15118 still hasn't been rolled out, so Taycan owners will have to use apps or cards.

@@fallinginthed33p In the latest Taycans there is an option in the charge setting for the P&C to enble and disable so its always a good sign.

Hello, the car wont allow you to as you can only have one charging door open at a time.
