MKX - Smoke Character Overview with Usedforglue

Time for more collabs!
As Usedforglue has been grinding Smoke to figure out what makes the character tick, I decided to revisit our format of working with other players to produce character breakdowns.
Usedforglue covers the basic specials and unique attacks of Smoke, but more importantly, how to use these effectively and apply his standing vortex.

nice video really great! keep up the great work! there's something else i want to say .. KETCHUP AND MUSTARD you are the BEST EVER! commentators on ESL tournaments! mainly because u really go thru what's happening what's the players are doing or trying to do, very fast! and on point! making the match much much more enjoyable to the viewers. you two are really talented!.. waaay better than the other ones. and i am really looking forward to upcoming tournaments featuring you two as commentators :)

Nice video!!. Smoke seems the least used by the community out of the four variations. Im just now finding my play style and i think i am gearing more towards vortex characters. Smoke has really good potential! I know ketchup used quanchi ,another vortex character, so i would like for ketchup to try smoke out. I would love to see you do some smoke gameplay. This video really helped out alot. Thanks!!!!!

Does smoke's invisibility have a rider? Like a damage boost (like MK9 reptile), reduced damage when hit out of it (MKX Reptile, I think?) or reduced chip damage while blocking (Predator)?

What are the inputs for Smoke's smoke bomb? I saw the inputs for close and behind, they looked similar. Can you clarify?

dont know if they fixed with the last hotfix, but the second hit of b21 used to whiff on crouch block so its not so good imo. f21 has a shorter range but is way more consistent.

What's the difference between ending the combo into just a standing 3 rather than standing 3 into fade towards? Is it more plus or something?

+Nightfall Smoke towards is better used against female characters because their hitbox is small and smoke's back 3 won't connect after the forward 2,1

Standing 3 leaves you with less damage but more advantage for your 50/50

what I found with smokes overhead into smoke bomb is if you hit the opponent ducking, blocking or not, the smoke bomb connects. if you hit the overhead standing, regular smoke bomb does not connect. its very weird

Hey guys. I main smoke and I'm getting combos and such down, but the one thing I have problems with are wake ups. I try to smoke phase through them but they catch me. Any tips?

+Nikko Mendoza you have to do the move as you getting up form the knockdown. that will make it a wake up. just remember not all wake ups are garentied, some like smokes wake ups are not good. form one smoke to the next on wake up use the smoke away move

Only EX version is safe to wake up with. You can try using normal smoke through but only if your opponent isnt putting pressure (meaning not doing combo inputs or any type of attack while youre still on the floor, if that makes sense)

Raider plays so differently, he's actually a threat up close and has armoured attacks. Smoke not as much, so he gets more mobility and zoning.... And a vortex xD
