It's almost 2 different personalities when he falsettos. The acting/facial movement and character makeup is mesmerizing. Literal pure talent. There's something so hypnotizing about this performance. There's a charm. I wish this could be a character for a movie and he played it.

First time I heard this song back in 2014 was from the Finnish radio. Back then I was working in a night shift and my work was sharing newspapers in the coyntryside with a car. They played this song almost every night for maybe 2 weeks because it was just relealed and every time I heard it was just as magical. Imagine driving trough the countryside all alone in the dark of night and then this song starts playing. It was pure magic. The memory still gives me goosebumbs. if you know something of the lore & legends of masks Marko's performance takes on a whole new meaning. masquerading is not just about hiding identity. in some cases it allows the mask wearer to become someone else - to channel other personalities. not just hidden facets of our own personality brought to the surface but archetypes too. curiously the Jester or Fool is one of these archetypes - a character at peace within a contradictory world - who uses humour to illuminate hypocrisy. often thought of as an agent of chaos as nothing is viewed in quite the same way after the jest. deep down we all know the character in this video. we might be watching Marko giving a performance but it's the Jester behind his eyes. still an incredible song & an intense & slightly creepy performance.

This is just phenomenal - this is what music was like in the 80s when it was new. This is about music, psychology, and imaginative video craftsmanship. This popped in my recommendations a couple of days ago and I’m back to it tonight because the music and imagery stuck with me. The harlequin makeup is by far the star of this video, with everything happening around him supporting his image & costume. It’s a pretty mind-blowingly unselfconscious thing to do in these times. Marko is pretty much boss-level to almost all the "pop" singers out there now, about quarter as popular.
@vancouverexplorer39938 жыл бұрын
Man, his music is not "Pop", he is a "Rock" singer. Hence there is no need of having more popularity than punks like Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, and Taylor Swift!
@ChirodipBasu250219948 жыл бұрын
Jamal T I know he's a rock vocalist, thats why I said he's better than the pop artists, but doesnt get that popularity. Well, I could argue with the term "popularity" but definitely there is a need to be recognized more right ?
@vancouverexplorer39938 жыл бұрын
You're right, he is not as famous as those pop spitters but certainly he is much more popular irrespective of the low recognition gained compared to them!

Poets Of The Fall may not be as popular as Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber, but the people who listen to generic Pop are of the lowest intellect. To play them a song like Carnival Of Rust, Dying To Live, or Daze would like taking the contents of the Louvre transfer it to a prison for the criminally insane.

I love how artistically well this video is done to support the song itself. It is rare to see videos like this these days, especially in this theme but I am glad to see that there still are artists out there that have a great appreciation for artistic vision and not just what might sell commercially.

@Jenkkimie8 жыл бұрын
Liliputian07 Mate, can I call you mate? I have, and when you look at most music videos then they have a very basic format and symbols that are used in almost all of them. There isn't a whole lot of new or interesting. Even some of the less popular genres tend to have some formalized themes and styles of execution and its like I am watching the same video over and over again in a lot of videos. It is not usual to see something that is a bit out from the box. Also I have actually played instruments for 15-years now, so music is like a second lifestyle for me. So avoid those assumptions because in all probability you will be inaccurate in your assumptions assessments.
@Jenkkimie8 жыл бұрын
Rikeilan I agree, there are some and they really do stand out from the mass crowd much to their own benefit. And before someone else jumps in, no this isn't some thing about being different or edgy, it is about making something distinct and memorable from the mass.

I love this about PotF, they are not an easy band in any way, which is something to be thanked for.

All day I listen to that song. Read comments. And I have my own version of the meaning of this clip. In short, the essence of the song about how a person tries to start a new life, to start again, stop overspending, to burn their lives, and so on. The Joker is a dark, celebrate the essence of man, his temptations, passion for entertainment. Most of the songs a person experiences a break-up, it's hard to break the habit. Joker indulges in every possible way. Bring It On! Burn this world! - He shouts, strongly provokes. Man tries to deceive themselves and deceive the Joker. Burning his past life, thinking that now everything has changed, everything will be different. When playing bridge song, the girl has clearly decided to break with the past. But as the end of the clip shows the essence itself can not be destroyed, the Joker can not be burned, and he was waiting for a chance to come back!

I recently just discovered this band, from their song Carnival of Rust. That being said, it caught me off-guard that this sounds so much different from Carnival of Rust. Such a great band, literally everything I hear is just so good. If that's not good enough, the music videos are all cinema quality. In a day an age where people just slap auto-tune over everything and yell gibberish over a beat to find success, I'm glad there are still band out there that challenge the way you think, that make you want to listen to literally every word and to make their music videos into short stories. I honestly go back to '09 and wonder why in the hell I have never heard of this band.
