Visma LAB riding on the front for Wout was perhaps not a wise use of energy, but I think the stage was a great morale boost for the team. Jonas got through unscathed, losing no time to Tadej, and Wout was up there at the pointy end which would have been good for his confidence going forward as well. Even denied Tadej bonus seconds.

UAE decided themselves to not chase anymore, and in my eyes they also did not look that strong. They tried to test Jonas, but Pollitt, Wellens, Soler and Sicakov did not do any real damage, the groupware still huge when they were done. Ayuso almost got dropped. So that only leaves Pog, Yates and Almeida. If anything this was a boost for Visma. At first they only came to the front to set a pace they liked after UAE stopped riding. Then at the end they chased a bit but did not actually empty the tank. Wout clearly felt better than he expected, Jonas was fine. Kelderman had his usual crash but did not break any bones. They are probably very pleased.
