The amazing thing about this is... If it were just one person playing, it would be a completely normal playthrough. It's kinda beautiful (and hilarious) how a certain human desire to communicate and collaborate (OK, and let's be real, to be entertaining on stream) completely overrules getting almost anything done in that specific situation because (and in spite) of how counterproductive it actually is. You can check it yourself by looking up Materials page of Minecraft javadocs, the "Carrots" entry has a tag "Ageable", which is the tag used by all blocks that grow. The "Carrot" entry doesn't have that tag.
