The Dr. Scholl's heel pad is brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing that. I have hyperextended legs, too and there's nothing worse than that feeling of the shoe's insole propping the rest of your foot up while your heel is dropping off into the abyss, lol.

I work in the wardrobe at the ballet company in Canada. And as soon as Manitoba got its first case of COVID- our massive list of deadlines for march went from working overtime, to everything being cancelled. Within days. Our last show was Moulin Rouge which opened and closed at the end of February. The 30 skirts I ombre dyed for smoke and fire, the bodysuits that went with fire. All the Alice for the school, all cancelled. It was heartbreaking, needed of course. but heartbreaking.

@@chiara4243 Omg! thats amazing! You saw my work! We redid a lot of costumes this year for the show. I dyed 90% of the new young Clara's dress. All the lace, silk colour matching to the original shade of pink and peach!. So much lace and tweaking formulations and what not. Heck, I'm even in the program! haha. I also dyed the wool for Fritz's new sailor suit that kind aqua/teal suit he wears. and some gold fabric for Mother's new dress. My greatest accomplishment I got to Dye and remake one of the little girl's party dress. It was a minty green sheer overskirt. Lots of lace and fun. I am so glad you liked it? What day did you go? I dragged my hubby to it on the Monday before Christmas the 22nd I believe.

I love this! Kathryn’s vídeos and The Pointe Shop helped me so much when I was trying to figure out what was up with my feet! I have a lot of similar issues as hers - my feet are way too compressible, shrinking nearly two sizes when en pointe, and I also have a weaker right ankle, as I broke it when I was younger. As an adult ballet student who struggles a lot with feeling ok in my pointe shoes, it is such a relief to hear a professional say that she never found the right shoe, honestly! Can’t wait for the next collab!

Question - If pros are wearing their pointe shoes a half to a full size too short, how are they achieving demi-pointe? I had super narrow feet when I was a student and dancing professionally and we compensated by going to a smaller size (this was in the 80s when differing box profiles and shapes weren't a thing yet) and I couldn't get to a decent demi-pointe because the shoe was just too short. I would be interested to see something about this because I still have this issue even though I'm able to get low profile, tapered boxes now. Although I'm just taking pointe class once a week as an older adult, I would like my shoes to fit properly.
@ThePointeShop4 жыл бұрын
I think that answers the question why she rips the seams when she sews down the fabric. The shoes most professionals are in allows for pretty easy roll through so I think they get use to force demi

Pointe shoe story - my fitters could not find the right shoe for me. Too much pressure (all of them!, especially Bloch Hannahs), heel too wide (Gaynor Mindens, where the heel was so bad on me that I snapped my drawstring by accident), too strong (I would not recommend Aspirations to a a beginner with a moderate instep, could not roll through them), my toes digging into each other (I'm looking at you, Bloch Hannah), etc. So, I decided to fit myself. Kids, don't do this at home! I looked at what I needed, what did and didn't work about different shoes and looked at different things. I finally arrived at Grishko 2007s. The place I ordered mines do not stock soft shanks, so I went with a medium strength. They will be fantastic once my feet are strong enough. They are perfect for me: the size, the platform, the box shape and width (second from the widest)... They are just fantastic for my feet. Could use a shorter vamp, but short and medium vamps work well for me. I now have no need for toe tips and a gel and silicone toe pad, because a regular toe pad, similar to a ouch pouch, is enough. Good fit, feel amazing, look amazing. They strike the balance of function and aesthetics. I have tried some form of Grishko when I went to Nottingham a few years ago. I was wobbling in them at the time at the barre. This time around, I don't wobble. I need to work on my balance though. For both yourself and Katie, I have a question. Any tips in general with regards to balance, muscle and core control? I really struggle due to underactive thyroid and a past concussion. I also think that undiagnosed (at the time) thyroid condition made beginning point difficult. Also, fun tidbit: My (UK) shoe size would probably be 7.5 (don't get halves a lot, so usually a 7 or an 8 in normal shoes) and my pointe shoes are Perfect in size 7.5. They're not so tight that my feet spill over, but not baggy (like the Hannahs and Aspiration size 8s were). The only exception was the Triomphe, but the sizing on them is absolutely off and many fitters I went to (apart from one) refuse to fit them for that reason. I am a 7.5, as I said. Triomphe? Size 6-6.5. Don't like them either way. Edit : warning signs of fitters not being the best. Not allowed to actually go up onto pointe and don't have a barre No bourres to check if feet aren't moving around (my issue, shoes were generally too wide). The fitter sees your feet as not being strong, gives you a really strong shank or a super soft shank (my issue as well, felt unstable in Hannahs but couldn't get over the box in Aspiration). Heck, from what I've learned with my own shoes, I should become a fitter 😂

Iro your thyroid. Are you substituting only t4 or t3 also? How is your ft3 and also vitamine d3 and b12? All of that could be part of the problem/solution.
@EnchantingWings14 жыл бұрын
@@nicoleweber4994 my thyroid is okay for the most part. T4 sorted the issue slowly. Back when I began pointe, I wasn't treated so my muscles weren't as strong. I haven't swirled on my leg muscles much either, so it's something I'm planning on. Vitamins are being supplemented for another reason. We can't get tests here for t3 and rt3 without going private unless it's seen as detrimental. Same thing with antibodies, for some reason.

Hello, i have a question: i’m back on pointes after a long time and my ankles are weaker and i struggle with échappés, ect. I would like to ask you if you think it is a good idea or not to cut the satin on top of the box for a better traction ( i have bloch amelia). I’m afraid that it would make it more difficult to slip into some positions? Thank you very much!

Ok so my feet are pretty flexible and I also have really strong feet, so I wear Freeds and glue them because other shoes are too hard, but I also darn them so I don’t roll over. The instant wings should help with skin sensitivity because they will make the inside of the box feel more comfortable against the skin. They are also great if toe pads aren’t your thing. It’s a way to have padding inside the shoe rather than around the foot. I find that toe pads make articulating more difficult, and also changes where I feel the shank against my foot. But the instant wings don’t cause any of those issues. In toe pads I feel the shank pressing against the ball of my foot. It’s not visible on the outside, but I can feel it. It’s so strange. But with the wings, it presses at the arch. I’m in Gaynors though, so that may have some bearing on it. 🤷♀️

I have a quetion. I have a balancing problem while I’m on one foot pointe and on one foot flats. And I can’t do releves on one foot without plies. I’m on pointe for 1,5 years and Im still struggling with one foot releves because of a little bit weakness and balance problems. My pointe work is really good but when it comes to one foot releves, standing on passé long, pirouettes etc. I start to have problems. My shoe is pretty soft (really really soft) and I have a good flexible arch. My big toe is very long and one of my big toe has a bruise. I’m a late started. I started at 11 (maybe that doesn’t sound late for you but I think so) but I was doing modern dance since I was 8 years old. In my city there is no where to fit pointe shoes. I’m going to buy new pair. I think I’m going to buy merlet diva. Is it good for me? I’m not sure. And what to do to get stronger? I sometimes think maybe I’m strong enough but my shoes are too soft. My English is not that much good sorry. Loves from Turkey❤️
