I like the edgy rivals in this order: 1. Hugh (had a Pokemon stolen by Team Plasma) 2. Gladion (disowned by psycho mom) 3. Silver (Son of Giovanni) 4. Blue (Wanted his Grandpa to appreciate him) No joke. In Yellow, Oak was a total dick to him, not even acknowledging that he was raising his Pokémon, instead giving him a Pokedex and telling him to get out. 5. Bede (too early to figure out motives)

I just did the battle as you are on your way to the indigo plateau. I get that he's ahead of you the entire time. What didn't make sense was why when you're heading to the elite 4, he comes back. Almost like he traveled all the way back through victory Rd just to battle you. Also, why is he in Silph Co as you're getting closer to facing Giovanni?

He didn't beat them back then. By the time you beat victory road he was probably at the elite 4 or even the champion but he was not the champion in the penultimate battle.

I’ve always wondered if Blue was in cahoots with Team Rocket. At the Silph Co. he was conveniently waiting before Giovanni’s room and even battled us to slow us down, possibly knocking our entire team out. How’d he get there so quickly? What was he doing there? Why was he there? I was reading some text on how Rainbow Team Rocket is from a timeline where Giovanni won and can’t help but wonder in that timeline, would Blue be a Team Rocket lieutenant?

One of the best things about choosing Bulbasaur is Blue doesn't have his monstrous Arcanine with extreme speed (he fainted 3 of your pokemon with extreme speed in the champion battle) EDIT: I can say gen 3 has the best extreme speed animation of all time

I think my team was Charizard Tauros Scyther Alakazam Golduck Exeggutor Or I had rotated with in rematches Arcanine/Rapidash for Charizard Vileplume/Victrebell for Exeggutor Gyarados/Tentacruel for Golduck I used Machamp and Gengar too around the rematches after, they're a good option. Then in the post game I'd run Tyranitar and Heracross, they were neat.
