With another Raid Day in the books, I wanted to take some time to discuss why I've been enjoying them. Plus, I think Mega Heracross Raid Day was one of the best we've had in a while in Pokémon GO. Let's talk about why!

Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. A part of the Pokémon franchise, the game is the result of a collaboration between Niantic, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It uses the mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they are in the player's real-world location. The game is free to play; it uses a freemium business model and supports in-app purchases for additional in-game items. The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which had increased to around 500 by 2019.
Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews; critics praised the concept, but criticized technical problems. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of the year. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

I'm pretty sure that it is very soloable, even without weather boost. The main thing is just to have a reasonably high level Mega Rayquaza.

Still argue raid "day" is a ridiculous term but idk if "fairly decent " is a fair description of the best ranked fighting mega. Blaziken has a better dps sure but its super squishy. Personally im running mega heracross for both bug and fighting as they are statistically the best overall and thats what matters in raids. Totally agree that remote raids need to be more accessible. Unlimited remotes on raid days would be a great upgrade. Theyve probably chased off alot of remote players already for games that value them.

I feel like you want two of each of the main pve types for megas and heracross covers bug and fighting well enough to be the second one for each. I feel for the time being that it's a good investment to level 40.

I agree! I had so much fun. Me and my buddies got well over a million xp within those 3 hours. Great raid day. Plus it helped that the bug out event was going on too.

Nice Video, CJ. I'm a new player (started two weeks ago) and I struggled to find a raid with participants on it, since pretty much all of the gyms near me had no players being involved. Luckily I was able to walk up to one gym at a nearby park with 3 players having a go at it, and was able to do 1 raid. And I was lucky enough that the Heracross I caught was a shiny, so very, very happy :D. I do feel as a new player that a lot of times newbies might be a bit hesitant to enter these raids, as you enter the gym with a few Mid-CP pokemon and everyone else there is carrying these awesome Mega evolution behemoths. But that's part of the fun in my opinion. If you're a new player you go into these raids with the best set of pokemon you've got for the raid (or at all). Every bit of damage counts in the end. :)

I drive almost 2 hours away to a much larger and active PoGo community bc my local area has very few active players as well.

@@Wizard013 Yeah, the PoGo community near me is a bit curious like that. There are about 3-5 gyms within a kilometer radius, and there's activity because whenever I take over a gym it's usually taken over by someone else (mostly the same players) within a few hours. But whenever there's a raid I never ever see anyone involved.

Raid Days are currently my favorite events. The issue I see with a 6-hour window is that it will spread out the player base... it might make it harder to get larger groups.

me and a friend were talking about the longer raid day and they said it should be two days instead of one cause of some of their friends working during the time

The last few raid days, I got only 0-1 shinys in the full 3 hours with 28 local and 1 remote raids, but this one I grabbed 9 shinys in 29, 1 was from a remote. Meanwhile my son got 4 and my other friend only got 1.

I think that a lot of raid days right now are going to be lower profit than normal since go fest for a lot of people myself included are more important. I'm holding a ton of irl resources for go fest since the raids are going to be a massive upgrade for me and the shiny hunts in general during go fest are fun. There aren't a ton of non pass legends that could be added to raids without at least some backlash. That coupled with a lot of people returning or starting playing during sinnoh tour means there's a good need for reruns leading up to go fest this year. Mega heracross and blazakin overlap well without making either one irrelevant same with Charizard and pidgioto, the primals allow for more efficient farming both as regular pokemon and primals. If this was any other year I'd be a tiny bit angry as well, but I want as many people to be able to go to in person events this year, both in the cities and locally, that I don't mind that there's slightly less mega energy for a solid mega. Should they be running something every week, yes but they're going to do more community days over raids until we come together as a global community and say hay one mega and one misc 5* raid day on top of the shadow 5* raids on weekends all we're going to get is average events most of the year.

I feel like more than 2 raids day's a season is to much and their exhausting for me causing burnout for me. As for 3 hours v 6 hours it had its own problems for rural player if its a popular raid after the 1st 2h I need to wait 30+ min to get in front of queue if i want to host. If its longer there will be even more people hosting making hosting a remote raid even harder/time consuming. During kyogre and groundon raid day I could still host after 2 hours but i needed to wait 10-30 min to host and their very popular. On Heracross and Garchomp raid day I already needed to wait in queue's when it started were I live luckily I could solo Heracross.

This was an amazing raid day I had loaded gyms Caught 2 shiny ✨ My quibble and I concur with you they need to make these raid days 6 hours

Count, I was able to solo mega heracross probably what helped me was making a raid team of one Pokemon, my mega Rayquaza with windy weather boost and ther heracross had earthquake as it's secondary move. Did two of those and won not raids solo

If it’s a “Raid DAY” it really should be up to 24 hours tbh. And if they decide to keep a price tag for raid passes, I would rather purchase a raid day pass that’s a little more expensive for infinite raids for different times of the 24 hour raid day. Like every 6th hour of the day where you’re not having to burn a remote raid pass.

I think 6-hour extensions is coming sooner than u think. Yesterday, I saw M-heracross appear around 11 am. It was either a glitch or it might b alluding 2 the future. If they do happen, it's going 2 b from 11 - 5. As 4 them being only 4 meta relevant Pokemon, I don't think I can fully agree. I think every mega regardless of relevance, should hav a raid day. If you're a new player, let's say u can't get 2 the 1s that r relevant, at least you'll hav a backup. It may not b the best, but at least u'll have something that also works. There needs to b a balance.

Did 30 raids no shiney. This has happened to me in the past with hisuian decidueye and samurott I don't know why and it feels personal at this point.

1) can be solo'd, 2) shiny rates were definitely boosted - they were being handed out like candy from a dirty white van

Omg I went really hard (for me) on this one because I wanted that shiny and a good one to power up. Did 27 raids, 16 remotely, ended up with 3 shiny and one 100% weather boosted one. GREAT raid day.

Last 3 raide days did 20 or more and got zero shiny. At lest I got on on the way as frend got 2 of them from same amount

Level 48 and I was able to solo it. I had three with me all day but wanted to try. Finished with 27 seconds left. Totally possible.

I was able to get a male and female shiny almost back to back. My luck has never been so good. I did over 30 raids for Kyogre and got no shiny.

Shiny rates were low for me, I got 1 out of 20. Also, it can be soloed

they need to fix the shiny rates multiple people in my group did 40 plus raids and got 1 or 2 shinys with one guy doing 32 raids and got none.

My raid day with the exception of it being 3 hours. I agree that it should be extended to 6 Maybe 8 hours for this event cause people work at 2-5. I feel like yes the 20 remote raids are so good and probably the best limit we had and the ticket is one of the best incentives for them as in Niantic to make money. We should have more raid days. Like for Mega Lucario, or Mega Mawile even that would do. Having no limit would be so good and possibly have some research during or after the raid hours. (2:00 to 5:00 pm) I disagree with pokemon that are useless or one and done’s. None of the pokeom I think were useless except the new owl that got a raid day. 2 things one that was a disaster for me and not only that I think it is not worth anything other then another form. My Mega Heracross raid day was very good I did 11 raids and I got a shiny on the fourth raid that I did remotely. I got 5 rare candy Xl’s I feel like it should be around 80% that does seem high but we get the bare minimum so could u blame me and the community for wanting more things to do? Probably not. I feel like having no limit of remote raids, 80% of rare candies, and some research would be better. Timed or special research would be good enough incentive to me and probably anybody else would be a good idea. I mean the 80% as in a chance. Great job and good points about this event. I also got Shiny Bronzer, and Shiny Burmy (with the trash cloak) on the day (that does feel like 3 hours is so short) the 15 time limit I got within the 3rd raid then only every three raids I got the time limit that was cool and I got rare spawns within that time limit. A jangmo-o and a Shelgon as rare spawns. Also bug type Pokémon. See ya

It would’ve been nice if the game wasn’t “down for maintenance” in the last hour. Everyone in the raid group couldn’t log in for a good 20-25 min after 16:00

I disagree Count…I’m a level 50 trainer w/a maxed out shundo mega rayquaza with air slash & dragon ascent and I was able to solo the 4 raids that I attempted to solo.

I’ve had horrible luck during every single raid day …Hera was 0/15 and all horrible IV..other raid days require me to go above 10 raids…I’m sure I’d enjoy them a lot more if I had better rng…only redeeming factor is free 5 passes…the other ones that actually cost me money left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m sorry but imo when players hit odds the game should give u a shiny

True, Its 1# Overall in the game, pretty sure the reason why some people say Blaziken is better due to Heracross having Close combat, which is one of the worst PvE moves in the game
