I know it’s obvious, but dudunsparce is literally the same. Sometimes I have trouble telling the two apart. I know it’s intentional but it still doesn’t make up for the fact that they just wanted to make an easy evolution to fill out the Pokédex.

In defense of my boy dugtrio: Diglett is obviously based on Wack-a-mole. When you get more levels on wack a mole, it gets faster and more moles appear. When diglett gets more levels and evolves, it gets way faster base speed and more moles appear

Early Pokemon wise, Seel/Dewgong, Diglett/Dugtrio, simple/lazy was sort of the goal due to game limitations, and if the game would even work long term. Vanilluxe on the other hand, yes, it could have been a little more creative. That said, it was also during a soft reset of the Pokemon franchise.

I have no problems with Dugtrio. It looks more threatening and stronger. Is it a good evolution? Eh. I'd call it boring, not lazy. Magneton and Dodrio look hella cool too. If you want lazy, look no further than Pawmi and Pawmo. It literally looks like Pawmi just stands up.

then there's magneton, klingklang, dudunsparce for pokemon that are just duplicates for evos. Imo coalossal is the pokemon with the most wasted potential since it's just a copy paste of aggron with the pre-evo's head and coal slapped on. Then the last most lazy pokemon is the entire pawmi line.
