I think it was awesome that Brock actually wanted to catch Pineco. How many of Brock's Pokémon has he been that enthusiastic to catch? Most of his Pokémon fall into his lap due to circumstance, it's cool that he just thought Pineco were cool so he wanted one.

He had a different sort of enthusiasm when catching Lotad and Mudkip but I really liked Brock's approach with them. It really highlighted his role as a breeder

I just realized the Voltorb line and Brock's Pineco have something very in common. They just Explode a lot. Sometimes for no reason. I just really like the thought of Brock basically carrying around a pinecone shaped Voltorb around until it tamed itself through evolution.

Very similar indeed! I think Pineco's self destruction is a reference to how pinecones are like grenades when mixed with fire

Brock was a true trainer. All of his pokemon would have had full friendship. When I was a kid I would always have a pineco in Gold/Silver because it was pretty unique and hard to find. I really liked Foretress design.

I will NEVER...EVER forget the most notorious move that I ever pulled during my young days as a Pokemon game player. As a kid, I used a Master Ball on a Pineco! Sadly, it wasn't even a shiny. If it were, I could use the excuse that I used the Master Ball to avoid it "escaping" the battle by using Self-Destruct. That is why Pineco/Forretress will always be one of my least favorite Pokemon! *Despite how so damn useful Forretress is as a hazard setter!

Same happened with me. But That pineco.....it evolved and helped me so much on all of my adventures! It was one of my strongest pokemon, it destroyed everything on it's way, that's why forretress is like an underrated guardian for me

I've always loved Forretress! Great looking pokemon with a fun name! In terms of moves Brock could and may have taught it to make it better: Zap Cannon. A fun move to handle Water Pokemon and cause Instant Paralysis upon landing! And Gyro Ball: Based on how his Geodude and Steelix both learned this move recently as well, it makes the most sense for Forretress to learn this move, especially as a replacement for Rapid Spin! Another great session Prof. Silver!! (Suggestion for video: Ash's Palpitoad)

We don't know what could be Forretress' current moveset due to the fact that Forretress was one of the Pokémon cut with Dexit, but if I were to give it an updated moveset based on the latest games I would give it: Pin Missile: Bug STAB and could be used in a similar way as Forretress used Spikes to pop balloons as a Pineco. Gyro Ball: Steel STAB and a powerful move that could be used as a great upgrade to Rapid Spin. It can also be used for a "counter shield" similar to how Steelix and Geodude use the move. Spikes: This is Forretress' most iconic move and provides good utility. Explosion: Another iconic move for this Pokemon and a great last-ditch nuke if need be.

Foretress has a lot in common with sudowudo. Both of them were key in building Brock skill as a Pokémon breeder whom were the sole Pokémon Brock brought with him at the start of a new arch? In your opinion, who was more challenging to raise? Foretress or sudowudo? I say sudowudo since it was a baby when Brock met it.

My favourite Forretress scene was the Spinda episode in Hoenn when Brock sends Explosion on Team Rocket's mecha "for you, Claire!" Of course hitting on a beautiful character-of-the-day was always his running gag, but that moment was pretty damn cool.

Forretress was interesting bc it was the only Pokémon Brock brought to Hoenn. When he could’ve used Crobat as a flying Pokémon. It was used here and there during johto but used a lot in hoenn. It was one of the longest continuously used Pokémon having been in both generations.

Yup! It was a really interesting choice -- I always thought Geodude was the more logical option as it represented Brock's origins as a gym leader.

He was interesting was it was brock’s only Pokémon until hoenn to not evolve (not counting vulpix but that belonged to another trainer) but I guess maybe they didn’t want it to become a graveler.

Fortress is the best Pokemon to set entry hazards. It can learn stealth rock, spikes, and toxic spikes. I have also used it in many Pokemon games....... 👇 👇 👇 And yeah!... Congratulations for crossing 2k subscribers.

Brock seems to have more of an aptitude for evolving his Pokemon than Ash! He has also evolved beyond simply a Rock trainer! Unfortunately Forretress seems to have taken a back seat to Ferrothorn despite both being 4X weak to fire!

It was apricorns, because they got two blue and one black (a Lure Ball each for Ash and Misty, a Heavy Ball for Brock). Ash’s Lure Ball was used for Totodile and Misty’s for Corsola, but the two remaining Fast Balls and the Heavy Ball were never used or referenced again.
